A method to produce a porous material includes polymerizing a compound containing quaternary ammonium and a cross-linker using controlled polymerization and ion exchange in the presence of at least one of hydroxide or a counter ion capable of forming hydroxide upon reaction with water. A method to capture CO.sub.2, includes employing a sorbent comprising a quaternary ammonium ions in a porous cross-linked polymer network in an environment to adsorb CO.sub.2.
Functionalized porous organic polymers as uranium nano-traps for efficient uranium extraction
Compositions are provided for efficient uranium extraction, for example from wastewater, seawater, or other water sources. The compositions can include a functionalized porous organic polymer functionalized with one or more uranium binding moieties, e.g. having a plurality of amidoxime or amidrazone groups covalently attached thereto. The compositions can include covalent organic frameworks, porous aromatic frameworks, and various porous organic polymers, especially those having a hierarchical pore size distribution over a range of pore sizes. The compositions can have functional groups such as amidoxime or an amidrazone covalently attached thereto. The hierarchical pore size distribution can be determined based upon at least 60% of the pore sizes in the range of pore sizes having a pore volume of at least 0.01 cm.sup.3 g.sup.−1 in the pore size distribution at 77 K. Methods of making the compositions and methods of using the compositions are also provided.

Method for preparing super-absorbent polymer
The present invention relates to a super-absorbent polymer having excellent properties, both centrifugal retention capacity (CRC) and absorption under pressure (AUP) having been improved by introducing a surface crosslinked layer crosslinked by surface-modified inorganic particles, and to a method for preparing the same. The super-absorbent polymer comprises: a base resin powder containing a crosslinked polymer of water-soluble ethylene-based unsaturated monomers having an at least partially neutralized acidic group; and a surface crosslinked layer formed on the base resin powder, wherein inorganic particles may be chemically bound to the crosslinked polymer contained in the surface crosslinked layer, via an oxygen-containing bond or a nitrogen-containing bond.
Super absorbent polymer
A method of preparing super absorbent polymer includes carrying out a crosslinking polymerization of a monomer mixture comprising a water-soluble ethylenically unsaturated monomer having at least partially neutralized acidic groups, a forming agent, a foam-promoting agent and a silicone-based surfactant in the presence of an internal crosslinking agent to form a hydrogel polymer; drying, pulverizing and classifying the hydrogel polymer to form a base polymer powder; and further crosslinking a surface of the base polymer powder in the presence of a surface crosslinking agent to form a surface crosslinked layer. The method produces super absorbent polymer having not only an excellent absorbent capacity and an absorbency under load but also the rewetting phenomenon can be effectively prevented.
BISPHENOL-S CONTAINING MANNICH POLYCONDENSATION PRODUCT
Crosslinked polymers made up of polymerized units of cyclic diaminoalkane, aldehyde and bisphenol-S or melamine. A method for removing heavy metals, such as Pb(II) from an aqueous solution or an industrial wastewater sample with these crosslinked polymers is introduced. A process of synthesizing the crosslinked polymers is also described.
POLYMER MATRIX BASED SUPERABSORBENT MATERIAL
A polymer matrix based superabsorbent material is provided, which is made of a polymer including nanoparticles with a particle size in the range of 0.1-500 nanometers, one or more water-soluble monomers suitable for radical polymerization, and at least one vinyl alkoxysilane derivative agent as a crosslinker. A method of producing the polymer matrix based superabsorbent material is also provided, which includes steps of: obtaining a solution by adding a solvent to the one or more water-soluble monomers suitable for the radical polymerization, obtaining a reaction mixture by adding the at least one vinyl alkoxysilane derivative agent as the crosslinker to the solution, adding the nanoparticles with the particle size in the range of 0.1-500 nanometers to the reaction mixture, and obtaining the polymer by a polymerization process.
