PLASMA GENERATION OF SORBENT BEDS
20230372898 · 2023-11-23 ·

A device for regenerating materials using a plasma field. The device includes a flow unit configured to flow a gas or a liquid and a plasma unit coupled to the flow unit and including a plurality of electrodes and a sorbent bed having a sorbent material. The plasma unit is configured to receive the flow of the gas or liquid from the flow unit so that the gas or liquid flows through the sorbent material and a predetermined chemical species in the gas or liquid is adsorbed or absorbed by the sorbent material. The device also includes a power source providing a power signal to one or more of the electrodes. The electrodes are configured so that the power signal generates a plasma field in the sorbent material that causes the adsorbed or absorbed chemical species to desorb from the sorbent material.

IMMOBILIZED DILUENTS FOR SMOKING ARTICLES
20230371575 · 2023-11-23 · ·

Immobilized diluents in a smoking article are provided, wherein diluents can be immobilized through absorption and/or adsorption of the diluents into immobilizing materials, such as sorbents like silica gels. By immobilizing diluents, the diluents can be available for vaporization, while still being protected from migration and/or loss of the diluents in a smoking article.

Hydrogen sulfide adsorbent in biogas and biogas purification system using the same

Disclosed is an adsorbent containing a metal oxide for adsorption of hydrogen sulfide in biogas, and a biogas purification system using the same.

The Use of a Hemocompatible Porous Polymer Bread Sorbent for Removal of Pamps and Damps

The invention concerns biocompatible polymer systems comprising at least one polymer sorbent with a plurality of pores, said polymer designed to adsorb pathogen-associated molecular pattern molecules and damage-associated molecular pattern molecules. Also disclosed herein are methods for reducing contamination in a biological substance, or treating contamination in a subject, by one or more pathogen-associated molecular pattern molecules and damage-associated molecular pattern molecules, by contacting the biological substance with an effective amount of sorbent capable of sorbing the toxin.

Sulfur scavenging materials

Materials which react with (“scavenge”) sulfur compounds, such as hydrogen sulfide and mercaptans, are useful for limiting sulfur-induced corrosion. Surface-modified particles incorporating a hexahydrotriazine moiety are disclosed and used as sulfur scavengers. These surface-modified particles are used a filter media in fixed filter systems and as additives to fluids including sulfur compounds. The hexahydrotriazine moiety can react with sulfur compounds in such a manner as to bind sulfur atoms to the surface-modified particles, thus allowing removal of the sulfur atoms from fluids such as crude oil, natural gas, hydrocarbon combustion exhaust gases, sulfur polluted air and water. The surface-modified particles may, in general, be sized to allow separation of the particles from the process fluid by sedimentation, size-exclusion filtration or the like.

A liquid absorbing body according to the present invention contains amorphous carbon and crystalline carbon particles dispersed in the amorphous carbon; the content of the crystalline carbon particles is from 60% by mass to 90% by mass based on the total mass of the amorphous carbon and the crystalline carbon particles; the degree of orientation as determined by a wide-angle X-ray scattering method is 75% or more; and the open porosity as determined in accordance with JIS R 1634 (1998) is 10% or more.

WATER PURIFICATION PROCESS USING ZINC OXIDE NANOPARTICLES

A method of using ZnO particles for the treatment of colon cancer and a method of using the particles for reducing the concentration of an organic contaminant in an aqueous solution is described. The ZnO particles are substantially spherical and may have nanopetals that provide a nanoflower morphology. The synthesis and characterization of the ZnO particles is also discussed.

Adsorbent composition for the removal of chlorides from hydrocarbon

An adsorbent composition for removing chlorides from hydrocarbon includes an adsorbent matrix and a metallic component. The metallic component forms an intimate complex with the adsorbent matrix. The adsorbent composition is characterized by pore size in the range of 20 Å to 120 Å. It is found that the amount of chlorides removed by the adsorbent composition from the hydrocarbon is in the range of 0.020 wt. % to 0.047 wt. %.

POLYMERIC LANTHANUM NANOCOMPOSITE, AND PREPARATION METHOD AND APPLICATION THEREOF
20220219142 · 2022-07-14 ·

The present invention discloses a polymeric lanthanum nanocomposite, and a preparation method and application thereof and relates to the field of environmental functional materials. The preparation method includes the following steps: (1) mixing lanthanum chloride heptahydrate with concentrated hydrochloric acid and dissolving the mixture in alcohol, adding a resin polymer, and stirring at room temperature; (2) draining the resin after the stirring for use; (3) adding the resin to a precipitant solution, and stirring at room temperature and then filtering out the resin; and (4) washing the resin with water until the resin is neutral, adding a NaCl solution, stirring and then filtering out the resin, and drying to obtain the polymeric lanthanum nanocomposite. The prepared polymeric lanthanum nanocomposites have a relatively more uniform distribution, and show a higher phosphorus adsorption rate.
