Expanding and disposable oil absorbent pads
The present invention provides for an oil pad having an oil absorbing medium which is formed or compressed to a particular shape. It is intended that such oil absorbing pad can be placed over an oily spill, or in a container containing oil, whereby the formed shape optimizes oil absorption by wicking oil to the interior of the pad, being sufficient to absorb and retain large volumes of oil, or to expand as oil is absorbed to expose one or more potions of the pad to the oil volume to be absorbed. The inventive oil absorbing pad reduces waste, does not create a mess when disposing, and effortlessly absorbs oil from an oily surface.
ASSAY FOR FILTRATION OF SUSPENDED PARTICLES IN MICROPOROUS MEMBRANES
A method of assessing a membrane, including calculating fluid dynamic characteristics of at least one of a membrane and a material to be passed through the membrane, where the material comprises particles; obtaining characteristic of at least one force acting on the particles of the material to be passed through the membrane due to the interaction between the particles and the membrane, the at least one force being an intermolecular force; combining the calculated fluid dynamic characteristic and the obtained characteristics to assess the flow of the material through the membrane; and optimizing at least one characteristics of the membrane in relation to the material. The membrane includes a plurality of rows and a plurality of teardrop structures arranged in the plurality of rows. The teardrop structures in each row are arranged at substantially the same angle with respect to an anticipated direction of flow through the membrane.
ADSORPTION AND DESORPTION APPARATUS
An adsorption apparatus and associated method for capturing an target gaseous adsorbate from an atmospheric air based gaseous feed stream. The adsorption apparatus comprises: a housing enclosing at least one adsorption element for adsorbing the target gaseous adsorbate, the at least one adsorption element comprising at least one substrate coated with an adsorptive composite coating that comprises at least 50 wt % metal organic framework and at least one binder, the housing having an inlet through which the gaseous feed stream can flow to the adsorption element and an outlet through which gas can flow out from the housing; and a desorption arrangement in contact with and/or surrounding the at least one adsorption element, the desorption arrangement being selectively operable between (i) a deactivated state, and (ii) an activated state in which the arrangement is configured to heat, apply a reduced pressure or a combination thereof to the adsorptive composite coating to desorb at least a portion of the adsorbed target gaseous adsorbate from the adsorptive composite coating.
EXHAUST GAS TREATMENT SYSTEM FOR AN AMMONIA-CONTAINING EXHAUST GAS
A method and exhaust gas treatment system for treating an ammonia-containing exhaust gas, for example a livestock house exhaust gas. The exhaust gas treatment system comprises a plurality of sorbent beds comprising a copper-doped small-pore zeolite, a valve system configured to establish independently for each sorbent bed fluid communication in a first or second configuration, wherein in the first configuration a flow of ammonia-containing exhaust gas contacts the sorbent bed at a temperature of less than 50° C. for storing the ammonia; and in the second configuration a flow of heated gas maintains the sorbent bed at a temperature of at least 300° C. for releasing and treating the ammonia in situ.
EVAPORATIVE EMISSION CONTROL ARTICLES INCLUDING ACTIVATED CARBON
The present disclosure relates to hydrocarbon emission control systems. More specifically, the present disclosure relates to substrates coated with hydrocarbon adsorptive coating compositions and evaporative emission control systems for controlling evaporative emissions of hydrocarbons from motor vehicle engines and fuel systems.
WATER PURIFICATION CARTRIDGE
A water purification cartridge includes a casing with a tubular shape that has an inflow portion for raw water to flow in and an outflow portion for purified water to flow out, and a filter member for filtering the raw water, the filter member being accommodating within the casing. The filter member is formed to have a cylindrical shape having a hollow portion, and has a first face and a second face at respective ends in an axial direction. The casing has a first cover portion, a second cover portion, and a side wall portion. The first cover portion covers the first face. The second cover covers the second face. The side wall portion covers an outer circumferential face of the filter member. In the first cover portion, a first contact portion is formed that annularly comes into contact with the first face and that press the filter member in the axial direction to elastically deform the filter member. In the second cover portion, a second contact portion is formed that annularly comes into contact with the second face and that press the filter member in the axial direction to elastically deform the filter member.
Adsorbent boom for the containment of contaminant spills
A system, method for forming, and a method of manufacturing a boom for the containment of contaminants is disclosed. The boom includes a cover and an adsorbent or absorbent material disposed within the cover. The adsorbent or absorbent material may be formed of one or more sheets of flexible fabric folded upon itself to form a convoluted structure within the elongated cover. Additionally, the material disposed within the elongated cover may form a non-cylindrical cross-section. The material may be at least partially a polyester material.
ADSORPTION COOLING SYSTEM USING CARBON AEROGEL
A method includes forming a carbon aerogel on a substrate to produce a highly adsorptive structure. The carbon aerogel is characterized by having physical characteristics of in-situ formation on the substrate.
ACTIVATED CARBON FIBRE FILTER
A regenerable gas filter includes a housing having in-line an entrance and an exit, a pleated activated carbon fibre sheet or tube, with electrical conductors in the tip of each pleat and further electrical conductors being optionally attached to the ends of said sheet. The conductors are disposed substantially perpendicularly to the gas flow through the housing and the conductors on one side of the pleated sheet are connected to a single central conductor, which in turn was coupled to an electrical DC power source, which is repeated for the conductors on the other side of the pleated sheet. The sheet is stretched over and in electrical contact with the conductors and the pleated sheet or tube is provided with a sealing means to the housing. The regenerable gas filter is used for the purification of air in a Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) system.
