METHOD OF CHROMATOGRAPHY ON A POROUS PACKING MATERIAL PRODUCED BY A DRAWING PROCESS
The invention relates to a method of chromatography wherein a gaseous, liquid or supercritical fluid mobile phase, which contains substances to be separated, flows through a porous packing which comprises a plurality of capillary channels which extend in the direction of flow of said mobile phase, said packing being manufactured by a method wherein: a bundle of elementary fibres is assembled, said fibres comprising a core made of a solid, liquid or gaseous material, and a shell made of a drawable material, said bundle is drawn in order to reduce the diameter of said fibres, a porous matrix is formed around the core of the drawn fibres, the formation of said porous matrix comprising a transformation of the shell material, where said porous matrix comprises at least one population of connected pores interconnecting the channels, where the thickness of the porous matrix between two adjacent channels is less than the diameter of the channels, preferably less than half the diameter of the channels, where necessary the core material is removed so as to leave free channels in the porous matrix.
OLEOPHILIC HYDROPHOBIC MAGNETIC POROUS MATERIALS
Oleophilic-hydrophobic-magnetic (OHM) porous materials are provided. In embodiments, an OHM porous material comprises a porous substrate having a solid matrix defining a plurality of pores distributed through the solid matrix, the OHM porous material further comprising a coating of a nanocomposite on surfaces of the solid matrix. The nanocomposite comprises a multilayer stack of a plurality of layers of a two-dimensional, layered material having nucleation sites interleaved between a plurality of layers of magnetic nanoparticles, wherein individual layers of magnetic nanoparticles in the plurality of layers of magnetic nanoparticles are each directly anchored on a surface of a layer of the plurality of layers of the two-dimensional, layered material via the nucleation sites, and are each separated by multiple layers of the plurality of layers of the two-dimensional, layered material. Methods of making and using the OHM porous materials are also provided.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR DIRECT AIR CAPTURE OF CARBON DIOXIDE UTILIZING A MICROWAVE DESORPTION TECHNIQUE
A direct air capture of CO2 system and method including a chamber defining a microwave cavity, a microwave heating unit coupled to the chamber in electromagnetic communication, and a sorbent structure carried within the chamber. The sorbent structure includes one or more porous support structures each having a plurality of pores and channels formed therethrough providing a large area of surfaces coated by nanoparticles of CO2 adsorbent material. A motor fan creates an air flow through the chamber and the sorbent structure carried therein. CO2 in the air is adsorbed by the CO2 adsorbent material. The microwave heating unit heats the CO2 adsorbent material to desorb the CO2 for further sequestration or value-added utilization.
Carbon dioxide sorbents for air quality control
Carbon dioxide and VOC sorbents that include a porous support impregnated with an amine compound are provided. The sorbents include a gas-adsorbing material coated onto the porous support. The gas-adsorbing material includes a polyamine which is produced using a process that is free of formaldehyde as a reaction product and/or a reactant.
LOW EMISSIONS, HIGH WORKING CAPACITY ADSORBENT AND CANISTER SYSTEM
The present description provides high working capacity adsorbents with low DBL bleed emission performance properties that allows the design of evaporative fuel emission control systems that are lower cost, simpler and more compact than those possible by prior art. Emission control canister systems comprising the adsorbent material demonstrate a relatively high gasoline working capacity, and low emissions.
MONOLITHIC ASSEMBLY INTEGRATING OPEN CELL STRUCTURE WITH RETAINING PARTITION
A monolithic open cell structure apparatus including an open cell structure housing including a first side, a second side opposite the first side, a first opening located at the first side, and a second opening located opposite the first opening at a second side. The monolithic open cell structure apparatus also including a filtration portion extending from the first side to the second side within the open cell structure housing. The monolithic open cell structure apparatus further including a retaining partition that at least partially encloses the filtration portion within the open cell structure housing. The monolithic open cell structure apparatus is a single piece including a unitary structure.
Hydrocarbon-in-water purification system
A hydrocarbon-in-water purification system includes a high capacity hydrocarbon absorber stage having a high capacity hydrocarbon absorber material and an inlet configured to receive a hydrocarbon-in-water dispersion from a fuel system. A polishing hydrocarbon absorber stage is in liquid communication and downstream of the high capacity hydrocarbon absorber stage including polishing activated carbon. The high capacity hydrocarbon absorber material has a greater saturation capacity than the polishing activated carbon and the polishing activated carbon has a greater polishing capacity than the high capacity hydrocarbon absorber material. A method for controlling and managing the evacuation of water from the hydrocarbon-in-water purification system includes tracking the purification state of water volumes and the bed loading states of purification beds defined in the water filter.
