The first core portion has a grain-like shape. The first coating portion contains an adhesive material, and covers the first core portion. The second grain includes a second core portion and a second coating portion. The second core portion has a grain-like shape. The second coating portion contains an adhesive material, and covers the second core portion. The thickness of the second coating portion is smaller than the thickness of the first coating portion.
COMPONENT INCLUDING A VOLATILE HYDROPHOBIC COATING AND METHODS INCLUDING THE SAME
Methods of manufacturing a substrate including a component, such as superabsorbent material, having a volatile hydrophobic coating are disclosed. The method can include providing a fluid supply including a liquid and providing a supply of the component. The component can include a volatile hydrophobic coating. The method can include introducing the component to the fluid supply. The method can also include transferring the component in the fluid supply to provide the substrate. The method can further include applying heat to the substrate. The heat can remove the volatile hydrophobic coating from the component.
SUPERFICIALLY POROUS MATERIALS COMPRISING A COATED CORE HAVING NARROW PARTICLE SIZE DISTRIBUTION; PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION THEREOF; AND USE THEREOF FOR CHROMATOGRAPHIC SEPARATIONS
The present invention provides novel chromatographic materials, e.g., for chromatographic separations, processes for its preparation and separations devices containing the chromatographic material; separations devices, chromatographic columns and kits comprising the same; and methods for the preparation thereof. The chromatographic materials of the invention are chromatographic materials comprising having a narrow particle size distribution.
Compositions and methods for reducing odor
A method for reducing odor, by providing a colloidal dispersion of particles of silica having a particle size of from 3 nm to 100 nm, said particles having ions of one or more metals selected from copper, silver, zinc and iron adsorbed at the particle surface, and bringing at least one of said particles into contact with an odorous compound; and/or providing an aqueous silicate solution containing metal ions selected from ions of copper, silver, zinc and iron, and bringing at least one metal ion-carrying silicate particle formed in the solution into contact with an odorous compound. A composition for use in such a method and a product treated by such a composition.
SOLID RECOVERY MATERIAL FOR CARBON DIOXIDE AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING SAME
A solid recovery material for carbon dioxide includes from 1% by weight to 99% by weight of sodium ferrite and from 1% by weight to 99% by weight of porous material. The material has an average particle diameter of 1 mm to 10 mm, and having a specific surface area of 5 m.sup.2/g to 1500 m.sup.2/g. An axial ratio of an average major axis diameter to an average minor axis diameter of primary particles of the sodium ferrite is from 1 to 2.
SURFACE FUNCTIONALIZED AFFINITY MEMBRANES
The present disclosure provides surface functionalized affinity membranes. The surface functionalized affinity membranes can provide increased binding capacity through improved coupling chemistries, ligand densities, spacer arm types, and spacer arm lengths. Methods of preparing the surface functionalized affinity membranes and methods of using the surface functionalized affinity membranes to isolate targets of interest, including nucleic acid molecules and proteins, from a sample are also provided.
COMPOSITION, PARTICULATE MATERIALS AND METHODS FOR MAKING PARTICULATE MATERIALS
Particulate material comprising rough mesoporous hollow nanoparticles. The rough mesoporous hollow nanoparticles may comprise a mesoporous shell, the external surface of which has projections thereon, the projections having smaller sizes than the particle size. The particulate material may be used to deliver active agents, such as insecticides and pesticides. The active agents can enter into the hollow core of the particles and be protected from degradation by sunlight. The rough surface of the particles retains the particles on plant leaves or animal hair. Methods for forming the particles are also described. Carbon particles and methods for forming carbon particles are also described.
Carbon dioxide adsorbent and carbon dioxide processing system
A carbon dioxide adsorbent including silica gel and an amine compound carried by the silica gel. The silica gel has a spherical shape, a particle size ranging from 1 mm to 5 mm inclusive, an average pore diameter ranging from 10 nm to 100 nm inclusive, a pore volume ranging from 0.1 cm.sup.3/g to 1.3 cm.sup.3/g inclusive, and a waterproof property N that is defined by an expression (1) and that is not lower than 45%,
N=(W/W.sub.0)×100 (1) where N is the waterproof property in percentage (%) of the silica gel, W.sub.0 is a total number of particles of the silica gel immersed in water, W is a number of particles of the silica gel not subjected to breakage out of W.sub.0.
