SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR CHROMATOGRAPHY USE AND REGENERATION

Aspects of the present disclosure relate to a method of regenerating a hydrophobic interaction chromatography column to which a load mass has been applied, the method comprising passing one or more column volumes of an alkaline solution through hydrophobic interaction media within the column, wherein the alkaline solution exhibits a pH of between about 10 and about 14, and a conductivity of between 0.5 mS/cm and about 10 mS/cm, wherein material bound to the hydrophobic interaction media is removed. In some cases, the alkaline solution may include sodium hydroxide at a concentration of between, e.g., about 0.1 mM and 10 mM.

Functionalized porous organic polymers as uranium nano-traps for efficient uranium extraction

Compositions are provided for efficient uranium extraction, for example from wastewater, seawater, or other water sources. The compositions can include a functionalized porous organic polymer functionalized with one or more uranium binding moieties, e.g. having a plurality of amidoxime or amidrazone groups covalently attached thereto. The compositions can include covalent organic frameworks, porous aromatic frameworks, and various porous organic polymers, especially those having a hierarchical pore size distribution over a range of pore sizes. The compositions can have functional groups such as amidoxime or an amidrazone covalently attached thereto. The hierarchical pore size distribution can be determined based upon at least 60% of the pore sizes in the range of pore sizes having a pore volume of at least 0.01 cm.sup.3 g.sup.−1 in the pore size distribution at 77 K. Methods of making the compositions and methods of using the compositions are also provided.

Yttrium-containing sol-gel coating, its use, and manufacture

Yttria containing hybrid organic-inorganic sol-gels may be used in coatings for capillary microextraction, optionally hyphenated to online HPLC analysis. The sol-gel reaction mixture can use an yttrium trialkoxyalkoxide, such as yttrium trimethoxyethoxide, and a [bis(hydroxyalkyl)-amino-alkyl]-terminated polydialkyl/arylsiloxane, such as [bis(hydroxyethyl)-amine] (BHEA)-terminated polydimethylsiloxane, that can undergo hydrolysis and polycondensation, to form coating materials. Capillaries coated with such sol-gels can have improved extraction efficiency compared, e.g., to pure yttria-based coatings. The CME-HPLC can analyze water samples containing analytes of varied polarity, with excellent extraction of amides, phenols, alcohols, ketones, aldehydes, and polyaromatic hydrocarbons and detection limits ranging from 0.18 to 7.35 ng/mL (S/N=3). Such capillaries can exhibit solvent stability at pH 0 to 14, RSD % between 0.6 to 6.8% (n=3), at a preparative reproducibility RSD between 4.1 and 9.9%.

This disclosure relates to new filtration systems, granular substrates, granular media and processes that are highly effective for removing suspended oil, particulates and oily particulates from an oil-water mixture. The new filtration media comprises a microporous granular substrate having a combination of specified micro-porosity, hardness and additional characteristics, the substrate being modified by an infused or coated absorption composition. This resulting filtration media displays excellent filtration performance, including outstanding durability and robustness to sustain its excellent performance over a large number of backwash cycles.

METHODS OF REMOVING CHLORIDE FROM GYPSUM HAVING HIGH LEVEL OF CHLORIDE SALT
20220324756 · 2022-10-13 · ·

Beads of materials such as activated alumina, zeolite and silica gel, are used as chloride salt absorbers. The beads are mixed with high-salt gypsum. After mixing for a short time, the mixtures are dried, and the beads and the powder are separated by using a sieve or other physical separation device resulting in a low-salt gypsum which can be used as a gypsum source to make gypsum wallboard.

BISPHENOL-S CONTAINING MANNICH POLYCONDENSATION PRODUCT

Crosslinked polymers made up of polymerized units of cyclic diaminoalkane, aldehyde and bisphenol-S or melamine. A method for removing heavy metals, such as Pb(II) from an aqueous solution or an industrial wastewater sample with these crosslinked polymers is introduced. A process of synthesizing the crosslinked polymers is also described.

CLEANING CHROMATOGRAPHY PACKED BED MATERIAL WITH THE AID OF A PROCESSING VESSEL, AND SAID VESSEL
