Method for reclaiming used superabsorbent polymer
A method enabling a used superabsorbent polymer recovered from used absorbent, etc., to be readily and inexpensively recovered without using acids or alkalies. The used superabsorbent polymer is treated with an aqueous solution of a multivalent metal salt such as calcium chloride, etc., the superabsorbent polymer treated with the aqueous solution of a multivalent metal salt is treated with an aqueous solution of an alkali metal salt such as sodium chloride, etc., the superabsorbent polymer treated with the aqueous solution of an alkali metal salt is washed with water, and the superabsorbent polymer washed with water is then dried.
Methods of Synthesizing and Recycling Metal-Organic Framework Systems
Provided herein are methods of novel methods of synthesizing a metal-organic framework system by vapor-phase appending of a plurality of ligands appended to a metal-organic framework. Also, provided are methods of recycling metal-organic framework systems by detaching the ligand and re-appending the same ligand or appending a different ligand to the metal-organic framework to provide a recycled or repurposed metal-organic framework system.
Process for decontamination of hazardous sulfur compounds in oilfield produced waters
A system and method treat oilfield produced water by two-stages of hazardous sulfide treatments. In an embodiment, a two-stage oil and gas field produced water treatment system includes an oil removal vessel. The oilfield produced water is introduced to the oil removal vessel. The oil removal vessel removes a portion of the hydrocarbons from the oilfield produced water to provide a reduced oil produced water. In addition, the system includes an iron sponge. The reduced oil produced water is introduced to the iron sponge, and the iron sponge removes a portion of the hazardous sulfides from the reduced oil produced water to provide a reduced sulfide produced water. The system also includes a stabilized sodium percarbonate solution. The stabilized sodium percarbonate solution is mixed with the reduced sulfide produced water to remove a portion of the hazardous sulfides from the reduced sulfide produced water to provide a treated produced water.
POLYMERIC HYBRID PARTICLE CONTAINING NANO PARTICLES AND USES
A polymeric hybrid particle or composition comprising of polymers, such as polystyrene or methylated polystyrenes with cyclic amines and their halogenated forms, and nanoparticles (NPs). The method for the preparation thereof and uses as nano-adsorbent, or a biocide, or a dual function combination of biocide and adsorbent for use in a fluid system for the purpose of purification or remediation are also disclosed.
Method for In-Situ Regeneration of Activated Carbon Loaded with Trihalomethanes Using Alkaline Hydrolysis
The invention pertains to a process for in-situ regeneration of activated carbon loaded with trihalomethane (THM). Based on the invention, this is achieved with alkaline hydrolysis of the THM with increased temperatures within the activated carbon in halogen-free, good water-soluble, or gaseous compounds. After completion of the chemical hydrolysis treatment, the activated carbon is cleared of reagents and reaction products by rinsing with water and diluted acids, and is then available for reloading in the untreated water flow. During the entire cleaning process, the activated carbon bed must not be moved.
SOLID SUPPORT COMPRISING CARBON NANOTUBES, SYSTEMS AND METHODS TO PRODUCE IT AND TO ADSORBE ORGANIC SUBSTANCES ON IT
Method for manufacturing an inert solid support with optionally functionalised carbon nanotubes (CNTs), comprising the steps of: i) providing an inert solid support and at least one catalytic metal associated with, or absorbed in, or adsorbed/deposited on, said support, said metal being optionally selected from among the group consisting of iron, cobalt, nickel, molybdenum and combinations thereof; ii) supplying a source of gaseous, liquid or solid carbon to the catalytic metal; iii) through chemical vapor deposition (CVD), depositing at least part of the carbon source at the catalytic metal as CNTs, stably connected to the inert solid support. The present invention further regards an inert solid support and a separation method.
Liquid Purification System
A liquid purification system includes a raw liquid supply line with a sorbent dispenser connected to an inlet of a filtration cartridge with a precoated layer of sorbent formed and removable by flushing and a purified liquid line connected to a purified liquid output of the filtration cartridge. The system is configured to decant spent sorbent and return most of the flushing liquid to the raw liquid supply line. A flushing liquid and sorbent separation device is connected to a flushing liquid outlet of the filtration cartridge, and a clarified flushing liquid outlet of the flushing liquid and sorbent separation device is connected to the raw liquid supply line. The filtration cartridge is made as a hollow-fiber cartridge.
ADSORBENT PARTICLES, BASE PARTICLE, PACKED COLUMN, AND METHOD FOR RECOVERING RARE-EARTH ELEMENT
Adsorbent particles each containing: a carrier particle containing an organic polymer containing a monomer unit derived from a styrene-based monomer; a hydrophilic organic compound adhered to a surface of the carrier particle; and a diglycolic acid residue bonded to the hydrophilic organic compound. When a BET specific surface of the adsorbent particles as determined by adsorption of nitrogen gas is X.sub.0 and a BET specific surface area of the adsorbent particles as determined by adsorption of water vapor is X.sub.1, X.sub.1/X.sub.0 is 0.10 to 1.0.
METHOD FOR REMOVING CATIONIC DYES FROM AN AQUEOUS SOLUTION USING AN ADSORBENT
A method of removing at least one cationic dye from an aqueous solution. The method includes contacting the aqueous solution with an adsorbent comprising a water-insoluble membrane disposed on a substrate. The water-insoluble membrane comprises cross-linked humic acid, at least one alginate, and hydroxyethyl cellulose. The contacting forms a treated aqueous solution having a lower concentration of the at least one cationic dye relative to the aqueous solution.
