Power modulator for infrared conveyor oven

A system and method to control the power supplied to heating elements of a conveyor oven. The conveyor oven includes a plurality of heating elements to evenly distribute heat in an oven compartment. During peak-loads, the current draw of the heating elements may exceed available power of a power supply. Therefore, a system and method to reduce the total current draw of the plurality of heating elements is provided. The system includes a controller configured to perform the methods disclosed herein. The methods effectively lower the total current draw by rapidly cycling a plurality of relays connected to each of the plurality of heating elements to achieve even distribution of heat and reduced current draw during peak-loads.

A first portion of the volume and a first plurality of tiers are in a first sub-chamber and a second portion of the volume and a second plurality of tiers are in a second sub-chamber. The system further includes generating means which: produces, in the second sub-chamber, airflow in a horizontal direction towards the conveyor stack and in a horizontal and radial direction across the second plurality of tiers to enter the second portion of the volume; and draws, in the first sub-chamber, the airflow in a horizontal direction away from the conveyor stack and in a horizontal and radial direction to exit the first portion of the volume across the first plurality of tiers.

A once-through baking oven has a plurality of oven modules which together form a once-through baking space. A heat-exchange heating device for indirect heating of the once-through baking space has a heating medium outward-flow pipe arrangement, a heating medium return-flow pipe arrangement and at least one intermediate radiator pipe arrangement having a plurality of heat exchanger pipes The heating medium flows in two adjacent heat exchanger pipes in opposite flow directions to each other. In an alternative embodiment of the radiator pipe arrangement, it runs in a spiral or meander shape in such a way that the heating medium flows in two adjacent pipe sections in opposite flow directions to each other. This results in a once-through baking oven that can be operated efficiently and adapted to different throughput requirements.
