A process for producing bis(fluorosulfonyl) imide includes providing a solution comprising fluorosulfonic acid and urea, the solution maintained at a solution temperature from about 0° C. to about 70° C.; reacting the solution in the presence of a reaction medium at a reaction temperature from 80° C. to about 170° C. to produce a product stream including bis(fluorosulfonyl) imide, ammonium fluorosulfate and the reaction medium; separating the ammonium fluorosulfate from the product stream to produce an intermediate product stream; and separating the intermediate product stream into a concentrated product stream and a first recycle stream, the concentrated product stream including a higher concentration of bis(fluorosulfonyl) imide than the first recycle stream.
PROCESS INTENSIFICATION FOR REVERSE FLOW REACTORS
Systems and methods are provided for improving thermal management and/or efficiency of reaction systems including a reverse flow reactor for performance of at least one endothermic reaction and at least one supplemental exothermic reaction. The supplemental exothermic reaction can be performed in the recuperation zone of the reverse flow reactor system. By integrating the supplemental exothermic reaction into the recuperation zone, the heat generated from the supplemental exothermic reaction can be absorbed by heat transfer surfaces in the recuperation zone. The adsorbed heat can then be used to heat at least one of the fuel and the oxidant for the combustion reaction performed during regeneration, thus reducing the amount of combustion that is needed to achieve a desired temperature profile at the end of the regeneration step.

A system for production of hydrogen includes a steam methane reformer (SMR) including an outer tube, wherein a first end of the outer tube is closed; and an inner tube disposed in the outer tube, wherein a first end of the inner tube is open. An SMR flow channel is defined within the inner tube and an annular space is defined between the outer tube and the inner tube. The flow channel is in fluid communication with the annular space. The SMR includes a foam disposed in the annular space. The system includes a water gas shift reactor comprising a reaction tube, wherein a reaction channel is defined within the reaction tube, and wherein the reaction channel is in fluid communication with the SMR flow channel; a heat transfer material disposed in the reaction channel; and a catalyst disposed in the reaction channel.
Energy-efficient method for providing a purified phosgene vapor
The present invention relates to a method for producing purified phosgene vapor, comprising the following steps: 1) providing a gas flow obtainable from the reaction of chlorine with carbon monoxide and comprising phosgene and carbon monoxide; 2) one-stage or multi-stage condensation of the gas flow and separation of non-condensable residue gases; 3) one-stage or multi-stage evaporation of the liquid phosgene obtained in step 2) and optional overheating of the produced phosgene vapour, wherein there is an energy integration between one or more of the condensation steps of step 2) and one or more of the evaporation steps in step 3) and the pressure in the last condensation step is between 0.2 and 6.0 bar higher than in the first evaporation step.
BAFFLES IN A FLUIDIZED BED COOLER
A fluidized bed cooler for cooling a urea-containing granular material may include a cooler chamber having a product inlet opening, a product outlet opening, a perforated plate disposed in the cooler chamber, and at least one cooling medium entry opening disposed beneath the perforated plate. The product inlet opening may be disposed above the perforated plate, and a baffle plate may be disposed between the product inlet opening and the perforated plate. A distributor plate may be disposed between the baffle plate and the perforated plate. An area of the distributor plate may be 10% to 50% greater than an area of the baffle plate.
Processes and systems for controlling cooling fluid in an ionic liquid reactor system with a heat exchanger
Processes for controlling the rate and temperature of cooling fluid through a heat exchange zone in, for example, an alkylation reactor using an ionic liquid catalyst. A cooling fluid system may be used to provide the cooling fluid which includes a chiller and a reservoir. The cooling fluid may pass from the reservoir through the heat exchange zone. A bypass line may be used to pass a portion of the cooling fluid around the heat exchange zone. The amount of cooling fluid may be adjusted, with a valve, based upon the temperature of the cooled process fluid flowing out of the heat exchange zone. Some of the cooling fluid from the chiller may be circulated back to the chiller in a chiller loop.
