Adiabatic plug flow reactors and processes incorporating the same

The present invention provides adiabatic plug flow reactors suitable for the production of chlorinated and/or fluorinated propene and higher alkenes from the reaction of chlorinated and/or fluorinated alkanes and chlorinated and/or fluorinated alkenes. The reactors comprise one or more designs that minimize the production of by-products at a desired conversion.

SYSTEM OF PRODUCT GAS COLLECTION CONDUITS FOR A STEAM REFORMER

A system of product gas collecting conduits for a steam reformer, containing a plurality of reaction tubes within a reformer housing, for the production of synthesis gas, comprising: a) a product gas collecting conduit arranged outside the reformer housing of the steam reformer, b) several port tubes arranged along the length of the conduit for connecting one reaction tube each to the product gas collecting conduit, c) at least one windshield for the protection of the product gas collecting conduit against wind and draft.

METHOD AND REACTOR FOR PRODUCING SYNTHESIS GAS FROM A CARBON AND HYDROGEN SOURCE IN THE PRESENCE OF AN OXY FLAME

The technology relates to a method of producing synthesis gas comprising carbon monoxide (CO) and hydrogen (H.sub.2), wherein the synthesis gas is produced by a reduction reaction of a first flow comprising a carbon source and an excess of hydrogen in contact with an Oxy-flame. The hydrogen comes from a reducing stream, a first portion of which ends up in the first flow, and a second part of which is used to generate the Oxy-flame by combustion of the hydrogen in the presence of a second flow comprising oxygen (O.sub.2), the second flow coming from an oxidizing stream. The first flow and the second flow are at a distance from each other such that the Oxy-flame supports the reaction between the carbon source and the hydrogen. A reactor, which can have different configurations, is also proposed for implementing the method.

A STRUCTURED CATALYST

A structured catalyst for catalyzing an endothermic reaction of a feed gas to convert it to a product gas is provided.

TWO-STAGE ENERGY-INTEGRATED PRODUCT GAS GENERATION SYSTEM AND METHOD

A multi-stage product gas generation system converts a carbonaceous material, such as municipal solid waste, into a product gas which may subsequently be converted into a liquid fuel or other material. One or more reactors containing bed material may be used to conduct reactions to effect the conversions. Unreacted inert feedstock contaminants present in the carbonaceous material may be separated from bed material using a portion of the product gas. A heat transfer medium collecting heat from a reaction in one stage may be applied as a reactant input in another, earlier stage.

Hydrogen Sulfide Production Process and Related Reactor Vessels

The present invention discloses a hydrogen sulfide reactor vessel with an external heating system that is conductively and removably attached to an exterior portion of the reactor vessel. Also disclosed are processes for producing hydrogen sulfide utilizing the reactor vessel.

REFRACTORY ANCHOR ASSEMBLY AND METHOD FOR INSTALLING THE SAME

An anchor assembly for anchoring refractory materials within a vessel is disclosed that provides for a more reliable refractory anchor and resultant refractory lining system that is easier to install both in terms of the refractory lining and the anchor assembly itself when compared to prior art anchor assemblies. The anchor assembly includes a base pin assembly, and at least one anchor leg connected to and extending from the base pin assembly. The base pin assembly includes a mounting end formed on one end of the pin assembly adapted for securing the base pin assembly to the vessel. The mounting end has an electrical resistance contact point formed thereon. The electrical resistant contact point preferably has a flux material located thereon.

REFRACTORY ANCHOR ASSEMBLY

An anchor assembly for anchoring refractory materials is disclosed for use in high tension stress applications. The anchor assembly includes at least one elongated plate having expansion slots formed along one edge of the elongated plate and semi-circular recessed formed along an opposing edge of the plate.

The present invention relates, in general, to a system and method for focusing gas distribution through a series of three-dimensionally (3D) printed lattice heating elements within an electric catalyst unit in order to promote ammonia dissociation. The present invention allows gaseous ammonia to be continuously heated as it flows in series through ceramic tubes containing 3D printed lattice heating elements. The lattice structure of the heating elements provides a balance between surface area and heat dissipation, allowing the heating elements to reach a suitable temperature to perform ammonia dissociation, but which are not oversaturated with heat which could result in failure or melting of the heating elements.
