According to some aspects, described herein is an automated droplet-based reactor that utilizes oscillatory motion of a droplet in a tubular reactor under inert atmosphere. In some cases, such a reactor may address current shortcomings of continuous multi-phase flow platforms.

A method of manufacturing a microfluidic system or microfluidic device having at least one channel includes providing a base sheet, providing a deformable intermediate layer, providing a cover film, and laminating the base sheet, the intermediate layer and the cover film so that a back surface of the intermediate layer is attached to a front surface of the base sheet and a back surface of the cover film is attached to a front surface of the intermediate layer opposite to the back surface thereof, thereby forming a laminate comprising the base sheet, the intermediate layer and the cover film. Further, the method includes applying pressure to the front surface of the intermediate layer through the cover film so as to deform the intermediate layer, thereby forming the at least one channel. The invention also relates to a microfluidic system or microfluidic device) manufactured by this method.

A process for continuous preparation of halogenated alkoxyethane of general formula XCIHCCF.sub.2OR, where X is Cl or F and OR is C.sub.1-4 alkoxy, the process comprising a step of introducing in a plate reactor reaction components comprising (i) a compound of general formula XCIHCCYF.sub.2, where each of X and Y is independently Cl or F, (ii) a base, and (iii) a C.sub.1-4 alkanol, wherein (a) the plate reactor comprises a fluidic module defining one or more fluidic path(s) through which the reaction components flow as a reaction mixture, and (b) the halogenated alkoxyethane is formed at least upon the reaction components mixing, with the so formed halogenated alkoxyethane flowing out of the plate reactor in a reactor effluent, and (c) the base is one that forms a salt soluble in the alkanol during formation of the halogenated alkoxyethane.

The present disclosure generally relates to a flow reactor system (100) and a flow reaction method (200). The flow reactor system (100) comprises liquid pumps (110) for communicating liquid reagents based on a set of flow conditions, a fluid pump (200) for communicating a carrier fluid that is immiscible with the liquid reagents; a fluidic mixer (130) for mixing the liquid reagents into a liquid mixture, a measurement device (150) for measuring properties of liquid plugs (140) discharged from an outlet (136) of the fluidic mixer (130); and a control module configured for controlling the liquid pumps (110) and adjusting the flow conditions based on the measured properties of the liquid plugs (140), wherein the liquid plugs (140) are representative of different flow conditions.

Method for fully automated synthesis of 16β-18F-fluoro-5α-dihydrotestosterone (18F-FDHT)

The automated synthesis of clinically relevant amounts of 16-.sup.18F-fluoro-5-dihydrotestosterone (.sup.18F-FDHT) using a commercially available radiosynthesizer. Synthesis was performed in 90 minutes with a decay-corrected radiochemical yield of 295%. The specific activity was 4.6 Ci/mol (170 GBq/mol) at end of formulation with a starting activity of 1.0 Ci (37 GBq). The formulated .sup.18F-FDHT yielded sufficient activity for multiple patient doses and passed all quality control tests required for routine clinical use.
