A flexible-electronic-device manufacturing apparatus for manufacturing an electronic device including a flexible base material and a plurality of functional layers provided thereon includes: an impression cylinder configured to hold and transport the base material; impression-cylinder driving means for rotating the impression cylinder; processing means for performing a plurality of processes for providing the plurality of functional layers by a printing method or a coating applying method on the base material held on the impression cylinder; impression-cylinder phase detecting means for detecting the phase of the impression cylinder; and controlling means for controlling the impression-cylinder driving means and the processing means based on the result of detection by the impression-cylinder phase detecting means.

Provided are a blade device equipped with a blade member which can accurately adjust pressing force due to a blade member, and a printing machine and a coating device equipped with the blade device. A blade device according to the present invention has: a blade member contacting with a plate roll to which coating material is to be applied; an upper holder contacting with the blade member from one surface side of the blade member; a lower holder contacting with the blade member from another surface side of the blade member; a tube contacting with the blade member and configured to expand and contract by pressure of fluid; and a tube positioning part which is provided on the upper holder and positions the tube closer to the roller, in a direction in which the blade member extends, than a tip end of the lower holder is. The tube adjusts a pressing force, of the tip end of the blade member, against the roller by being expanded or contracted while being held by the tube positioning part and the blade member.

At the time of forming a paste layer on a substrate sheet by use of three rolls placed at right angles, in order to offset a variation amount of a first gap due to thermal expansion of the rolls, a variation amount in a given detection period is calculated by use of outputs of a first sensor configured to detect a coating film surface of a second-roll coating film of a second roll and a second sensor configured to detect a second-roll surface, and the first roll is moved by use of a first-roll moving mechanism.

A surface application unit for applying a surface application substance to all or a portion of a surface of a planar substrate in a machine for printing planar substrates. The unit includes an applicator roller (11) which is rotated (T) and can be positioned against all or a portion of the surface of the substrate in order to apply the substance thereto; an anilox roller (13) which is rotated (S) and positioned against the applicator roller (11) and which covers the applicator roller (11) with the substance; and a supply system (14) which supplies the anilox roller (13) with the substance and which is provided with a substance tank, a pump, a device for circulating the substance, and a device (16) which is held against the anilox roller (13) in order to supply the substance to the roller. A recovery system (18) mounted downstream of the applicator roller (11) can be positioned against the applicator roller (11) to recover excess substance on the roller (11).

A steel sheet coating method is performed by an apparatus that includes a cleaner configured to apply cleaning liquid to clean a surface of a steel sheet, a polisher that applies polishing liquid to the cleaned surface and includes at least one polishing wheel configured to polish the surface of the steel sheet, a coater that includes a plurality of coating rollers configured to coat the polished surface of the steel sheet with coating liquid, and a curing furnace including curing chambers that are configured to heat the steel sheet coated with the coating liquid, that have different heating temperatures, and that are configured to cure the coating liquid on the steel sheet based on heating the steel sheet in one chamber having a first temperature and then heating the steel sheet in another chamber having a second temperature greater than the first temperature.

When a coating material is rolled between rolls to generate a a coating film, and the coating film is transferred onto the coating object, at first, a residual coating material layer based on a residual coating material is formed on each of the surfaces of the rolls, and supply of the coating material and transfer of the coating film are carried out in a state where the residual coating material layer is retained on each of the surfaces of the rolls, thereby suppressing abrasions between the rolls and the coating material.

An apparatus and process for the delivery of material to rolls of a laminator is disclosed.

A coating device includes: a first roll including a roll surface on which an application liquid is deposited; a first scratch off member configured to scratch off the application liquid from the roll surface of the first roll; a second roll including a roll surface configured to contact with the roll surface of the first roll, wherein the second roll is configured to rotate in a rotation direction opposite to a rotation direction of the first roll, the application liquid is transferred from the roll surface of the first roll to the roll surface of the second roll, and the second roll is configured to transfer the transferred application liquid to a steel strip; and a second scratch off member configured to scratch off the application liquid from the roll surface of the second roll.

A roll coater can be modified by the addition of one or more needle tubes that supply coating fluid to the roll coater in discrete locations across the face of the coating roll. The needle tubes supply a localized band of coating material onto the coating roll superimposed over the uniform coating layer already present on the surface of the coating roll from an upstream coating pond creating a stripe pattern over the uniform coating layer. By varying the relative speeds of the coating rolls in the coater, the width of the stripe can also be adjusted.

A metering rod holder assembly for supporting a metering rod in compressive engagement with a surface from which a fluid is to be metered. The rod holder assembly includes a base member having a channel opening to a first face thereof, and a rod bed insert at least partially received in the channel of the base member in spaced relation to a base wall of the channel. The rod bed insert includes a metering rod slot for receiving a metering rod, and a flank engaging surface engaged with at least one flank surface of the base member, the rod bed insert movable from a first position to a second position within the channel.
