The gluing device is configured to apply the adhered liquid glue on the applicator roll to a corrugated medium of a corrugated paperboard sheet. Each of the glue dams includes a pair of dam units located in spaced-apart relation to each other in a width direction of the applicator roll. The pair of dam units are configured to form a glue-uncoated region interposed between the pair of dam units on an outer peripheral surface of the applicator roll so as to correspond to a trimming region of the corrugated paperboard sheet.

The chamber includes, at each of the two axial ends of the chamber, a wall separating the chamber from a cavity. The wall has a wall surface arranged to face the transfer roller when the device is in use. The wall is dimensioned so that the wall surface will be distanced from the transfer roller when the device is in use, so as to allow fluid to be present in a gap between the wall surface and the transfer roller.

The first gap between the first and second rollers can be adjusted based on a position-based positioning drive by being set to a constant and/or defined gap width, and the second gap can be adjusted based on a force-based positioning drive, and can be set to a constant and/or defined contact force or linear force.

A painting method and a painting apparatus for a band material that prevent a printing defect during a long-time operation by preventing agglomeration and adhesion of a thixotropic paint in a paint pan is disclosed. The liquid paint is discharged to the paint pan as a jet flow from a level lower than a liquid surface of a paint basin toward a bottom of the paint pan, thereby creating a bottom flow along the bottom of the paint pan and an upward vortex from the bottom along a side wall of the paint pan. The liquid paint overflows in an amount corresponding to a supplied amount to the paint pan from a front upper edge of the paint pan in a flowing direction of the bottom flow, thereby flowing the liquid paint continuously in the paint pan toward the front upper edge.

The pre-electrode sheet and the active material are inserted into and discharged from between the laminating roll and the pressurizing roll.
