ULTRASONIC IMAGING APPARATUS AND METHOD OF CONTROLLING THE SAME
A display apparatus and driving method are discussed where the ultrasonic imaging apparatus includes an ultrasonic transducer configured to sequentially output a first ultrasonic signal, a second ultrasonic signal, and a third ultrasonic signal; a beamforming unit configured to generate a first synthesized signal by delaying the first ultrasonic signal and synthesizing the delayed first ultrasonic signal with the second ultrasonic signal, and to generate a second synthesized signal by delaying the first synthesized signal and synthesizing the delayed first synthesized signal with the third ultrasonic signal.
ACOUSTIC BIOREACTOR PROCESSES
A series of multi-dimensional acoustic standing waves is set up inside a growth volume of a bioreactor. The acoustic standing waves are used to hold a cell culture in place as a nutrient fluid stream flows through the cell culture. The nutrient fluid stream dislodges some cells from the cell culture, which can then be recovered for cell therapy applications. The cell culture continues to expand and reproduce, permitting continuous recovery of cells from the bioreactor.

An ultrasonic measuring apparatus includes an ultrasonic transducer device having a substrate and an ultrasonic transducer element array that has a first channel group and a second channel group that are arranged on the substrate, a first integrated circuit apparatus that is mounted on the substrate, at one edge portion of the ultrasonic transducer element array in a first direction, such that a long-side direction coincides with a second direction that intersects the first direction, and performs at least one of signal transmission to the first channel group and signal reception from the first channel group, and a second integrated circuit apparatus that is mounted on the substrate, at the other edge portion of the ultrasonic transducer element array in the first direction, such that the long-side direction coincides with the second direction, and performs at least one of signal transmission to the second channel group and signal reception from the second channel group. In the ultrasonic transducer element array, the first group of channels and the second group of channels are arranged alternately every channel in the second direction.
Piezoelectric transducer device with lens structures
In an embodiment, a probe device includes a portion having a curved surface and a plurality of tiles variously coupled to the curved surface. The tiles each include a plurality of piezoelectric transducer elements and a base adjoining and supporting the plurality of piezoelectric transducer elements. The probe device further comprises curved lens portions each coupled to a respective one of the plurality of tiles, wherein for each of the tiles, the plurality of piezoelectric transducer elements of the tile are to propagate a wave toward the respective curved lens portion. In another embodiment, the probe device further comprises a sheath material surrounding the curved lens portions.
ELECTRONIC CONFIGURATION AND CONTROL FOR ACOUSTIC STANDING WAVE GENERATION
Aspects of the disclosure are directed to an apparatus for separating a second fluid or a particulate from a host fluid. That apparatus comprises a flow chamber with at least one inlet and at least one outlet. A drive circuit configured to provide a drive signal to a filter circuit configured to receive the drive signal and provide a translated drive signal. An ultrasonic transducer is cooperatively arranged with the flow chamber, and transducer includes at least one piezoelectric element configured to be driven by the current drive signal to create an acoustic standing wave in the flow chamber. At least one reflector opposing the ultrasonic transducer to reflect acoustic energy.
Marine multibeam sonar device
A marine multibeam sonar device comprises a processing element and a transmitter. The processing element generates a plurality of transmit transducer electronic signals and inverts a polarity of a first portion of the transmit transducer electronic signals. The transmitter is in communication with the processing element and includes a plurality of transmit electronic circuits and a plurality of transmit transducers. Each transmit electronic circuit receives and processes one of the transmit transducer electronic signals, wherein a first portion of the circuits re-inverts the polarity of the first portion of the transmit transducer electronic signals. The transmit transducers receive the processed transmit transducer electronic signals from the transmit electronic circuits and generate a sonar beam.
Marine sonar display device with cursor plane
A marine sonar display device comprises a display, a sonar element, a memory element, and a processing element. The display presents sonar images. The sonar element generates a sonar beam and presents transducer signals. The processing element is in communication with the display, the sonar element, and the memory element and receives the transducer signals, calculates sonar data from the transducer signals and generates a three-dimensional view of a portion of the body of water, wherein the view includes a plurality of sonar images. Each sonar image is generated from sonar data derived from a previously-generated sonar beam and includes representations of underwater objects and a water bed. The processing element also generates a cursor plane and a cursor positioned thereon, both of which appear on the three-dimensional view. The processing element further controls the display to present the three-dimensional view, the sonar images, the cursor plane, and the cursor.
LOCALIZED HAPTIC FEEDBACK BY ELECTRONIC DEVICES
Various embodiments concern electronic devices capable of providing localized haptic feedback. More specifically, an electronic device can include an array of piezoelectric actuators that is disposed within the housing of the electronic device. When a user interacts with the electronic device (e.g., with content presented on a display), one or more of the piezoelectric actuators in the array can be induced into performing a haptic event. For example, a power source may selectively apply voltage to one or more piezoelectric actuators (and thus induce the haptic event). The localized haptic feedback provided by the piezoelectric actuator(s) can increase the realism of content experienced by the user.
