A rivet gun includes a gun body and a spear detachably connected. The gun body has an axial negative pressure air chamber and an axial hydraulic chamber intercommunicating for gas pressure. The spear includes a connecting chamber communicating with the hydraulic chamber and a gun nozzle. A jaw chamber operating for nail-clamping purposes is adjacent to the gun nozzle. The hydraulic chamber has a piston and an elastic member attached to the piston, other end of the elastic member connecting to the negative pressure air chamber. The piston is coupled to a rod, the rod bears on the jaw chamber to move along the axis of the connecting chamber and thereby clamp on or release a riveting nail.

Spot-joining apparatus and methods

A spot-joining apparatus comprises a motor, a punch for driving a fastener or performing a clinching or friction stir spot welding operation, a first transmission, a second transmission and a transmission control apparatus. The first transmission is configured to transfer rotary motion of the motor to the punch when engaged. The second transmission is configured to convert rotary motion of the motor to linear motion of the punch, and thereby drive the punch towards a workpiece, when engaged. The transmission control apparatus is arranged to selectively adjust the degree of engagement of at least one of the first and second transmissions. FASTENING TOOL

A fastening tool configured to fasten a workpiece via a multi-piece swage type fastener including a pin and a collar includes an anvil, a pin-gripping part, a driving mechanism, an electric motor, a control part and a housing. The driving mechanism is configured to move the pin-gripping part relative to the anvil in a first direction along an axis so as to cause the anvil to press the collar engaged with a shaft part of the pin in a second direction and in a radially inward direction. An operation mode of the driving mechanism can be selectively switched between a plurality of operation modes including a first mode, in which a process of fastening the workpiece is completed based on a state of the fastener, and a second mode, in which the process of fastening the workpiece is completed based on a driving state of the motor.

A method for installing a fastener system. A position on a structure relative to an overhang on the structure is automatically sensed for installing a fastener system in a hole using an offset collar installer. The offset collar installer is moved about a rotation axis to the position such that a collar in the fastener system is held in the position over the hole. The offset collar installer is connected to a platform and rotatable about the rotation axis. The collar is fastened to an engagement feature for a bolt in the hole.
