DOUBLE-SIDED INDEXABLE INSERT HAVING TAPERED WAIST FOR HIGH-FEED MILLING AND DRILLING
An indexable milling or drilling insert having a 180-degree rotational symmetry about each of the first, second and third axes (X, Y, Z) of a three-dimensional euclidean space. The insert has opposite first and second main surfaces and a peripheral surface extending therebetween. Each main surface has a main abutment surface and at least two rake surfaces. The insert has a through clamping bore which extends along the third axis and opens out to the main surfaces. The peripheral surface has two opposite front surfaces connected to two opposite side surfaces. Each front surface has a pair of outward abutment surfaces and each side surface has a pair of at least partially planar inward abutment surfaces. Each pair of outward abutment surfaces converge outwardly away from the third axis and each pair of inward abutment surfaces converge inwardly towards the third axis.

A cutting insert according to one aspect has a flat plate shape including a first main surface having a polygonal shape, a second main surface located opposite to the first main surface, and an outer peripheral surface located between the first main surface and the second main surface. The cutting insert includes a cutting portion located in regions including at least a corner portion of the first main surface, and a main body portion located in a region other than the corner portion. A thickness of the main body portion is larger than a thickness of the cutting portions, and the main body portion includes a recessed portion or a protruding portion located in the outer peripheral surface thereof.
Cutting insert having two peripheral abutment ridges and cutting tool
A cutting insert includes an insert longitudinal axis defining a forward to rear direction, opposing insert inner and outer side surfaces and an insert peripheral surface extending therebetween. The insert peripheral surface includes an insert rear end surface and an adjacent insert lower surface. The cutting insert includes two spaced apart peripheral abutment ridges that are distal the insert outer side surface and extend along the insert rear end surface and the insert lower surface, respectively. The two peripheral abutment ridges converge towards each other at an acute insert wedge angle in a rearward direction of the cutting insert, away from a cutting edge.
Cutting insert
A cutting insert including a body having three vertices, an upper face, a lower face, and flank faces joining the upper and lower faces. At least one cutting edge is formed at an intersection between the upper face and the flank faces. A generally triangular-shaped island surrounds a central axis of the cutting insert and is higher in elevation than at least one portion of the upper face.
TANGENTIAL CUTTING INSERT, CUTTING TOOL WITH A TANGENTIAL CUTTING INSERT, AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING A TANGENTIAL CUTTING INSERT
A tangential cutting insert for a turning tool is described, which comprises a first tangential cutting insert side and a second tangential cutting insert side, wherein one of the tangential cutting insert sides is assigned more than two cutting edges, and the cutting edges are arranged in a star shape about a tangential cutting insert center axis. The tangential cutting insert is produced completely from cubic crystalline boron nitride, polycrystalline cubic boron nitride, polycrystalline diamond, or ceramic. In addition, a cutting tool with such a tangential cutting insert is presented. A method for producing a tangential cutting insert is also explained.
CUTTING INSERT AND CUTTING TOOL
A cutting insert is provided, which can be prevented from being lifted from a tool body. A cutting insert includes two end surfaces opposed to each other, a peripheral side surface extending between the two end surfaces, a cutting edge provided at an intersecting edge between at least one of the two end surfaces and the peripheral side surface, and a fixing hole provided in an end surface direction from the first end surface to the second end surface. The peripheral side surface is provided with raised parts changing in height in the end surface direction.
Cutting insert, tool body and cutting tool
A cutting insert having a first end surface, a second end surface, and a peripheral side surface. The peripheral side surface includes a rake surface, a front flank and a first cutting edge located in an intersecting edge between the rake surface and the front flank. The first end surface includes a central surface and a side flank located closer to the front flank as compared to the central surface. An intersecting edge between the central surface and the peripheral side surface serves as a first edge, and an intersecting edge between the side flank and the peripheral side surface serves as a second edge, and an angle formed by the first cutting edge and the first edge serves as a first angle , and an angle formed by the first cutting edge and the second edge serves as a second angle , wherein is smaller than .
CUTTING TOOL AND CUTTING TOOL BODY WITH A HOLDING MEMBER FOR HOLDING A COUPLING SCREW
A cutting tool body is configured for securing a cutting insert with a female thread. The cutting tool body includes a machining end and a tool peripheral surface which extends therefrom. The cutting tool body further includes a through, non-threaded tool coupling bore which opens out to the tool peripheral surface and a coupling screw which has a coupling screw thread. The coupling screw is being located in the tool coupling bore and configured to secure the cutting insert. The cutting tool body further includes a holding member which engages the coupling screw thread at least when the holding member is not in contact with the cutting insert.
Circular cutting insert having non-circular peripheral edge
A cutting tool has an insert holder with an indexable cutting insert removably secured therein. The cutting insert has upper and lower end surfaces with a peripheral side surface and a through bore extending therebetween, and a plurality of upper cutting edges formed on an upper peripheral edge. The peripheral side surface includes a non-circular upper relief surface adjacent the upper peripheral edge and a circular upper abutment surface spaced apart from the upper peripheral edge. Each upper cutting edge exhibits mirror symmetry about a bisector plane, and is non-linear in a side view. The through bore has an inner undercut formed by upper and lower bore surfaces located on opposite sides of a median plane, and a clamping member makes contact with one of the upper and lower bore surfaces at an inner contact zone located between the median plane and a seat surface of the insert holder.
