Provided is a tool changer 2 which includes a first magazine 4, a second magazine 3 arranged rear to the first magazine 4, and a lower wall 61 which partitions a first area A1 and a second area A2, wherein the magazines 3, 4 are provided in the first area A1 and a workpiece is processed in the second area A2. The lower wall 61 includes an opening which communicates the first area A1 with the second area A2. The magazines 3, 4 respectively includes rotatable magazine bodies 31, 41 and a plurality of tool holders 5. The magazine body 31 of the second magazine 3 includes a cut part 33 which is formed by cutting a part of the outer periphery of the magazine body 31. The tool holders 5 are provided in a part of the outer periphery of the magazine bodies 31, 41 other than the cut part. A shutter 7 for opening and closing the opening is provided to a part of the outer periphery of the magazine body 31 of the second magazine 3 other than the cut part.

Provided is a tool magazine apparatus that has excellent workability and is capable of being downsized. A tool replacement device includes a fixed frame installed in an opening portion provided at a predetermined position of a tool magazine, a swivel frame disposed inside the fixed frame so as to be rotatable about a swivel axis extending in a vertical direction, and a tool replacement rack fixed to the swivel frame. The swivel frame is rotated to a deliverable position at which the tool replacement rack is parallel to a tool rack inside the tool magazine to enable a tool to be delivered between the tool replacement rack and a tool transfer device, and to a replaceable position at which the tool replacement rack is located outside the tool magazine to enable replacement of old and new tools.

Provided is an apparatus for detecting a failure in holding a tool of a machine tool that includes, in each of a plurality of tool holding mechanisms in a tool magazine, a locking member provided to have different self-displacement positions for a case where a tool is held at a proper held position between tool gripping portions of a pair of holding arms and a case where the tool is held with deviation from the proper held position, and that detects a holding failure state of the tool in the tool holding mechanism by detecting the position of a detection target portion that moves integrally with the locking member with a predetermined detector provided in the machine tool. The apparatus makes it possible to effectively prevent a risk of a breakdown of and damage to the machine tool.

The invention is based on a precision apparatus for placement into storage and/or removal from storage (54) for an at least semiautomated placement into storage and/or removal from storage of tools (10), in particular tool assemblies (12), and/or of tool chucks (14) into and/or out of a storage lift (16), with at least one holding unit (24) for tools (10), in particular tool assemblies (14), and/or tool chucks (14), which is loadable by a handling robot (18) and forms a plurality of storage bins (20, 22).
It is proposed that the holding unit (24) comprises at least one form-fitting centering element (26), which is configured to interact with a centering bolt (28) and/or a centering recess for a submillimeter-precise horizontal orientation of the holding unit (24).

Provided is a tool magazine apparatus capable of preventing a phase error in attaching a tool to a tool holding gripper. A tool magazine apparatus includes: a magazine body having both front and rear racks each provided with tool holding grippers; a tool transfer device to take out a tool from the both racks and attach a tool to the both racks; a tool standby pot to hold a tool; and an intra-magazine tool change device to deliver a tool between the tool standby pot and the tool transfer device. The tool transfer device includes: a moving body disposed between the both racks; a base disposed on the moving body and being rotatable around an axis extending in the Z-axis direction; a transfer gripper attached to the base and being movable in a plane orthogonal to the Z-axis direction; and an air cylinder causing the transfer gripper to move.
Lockable tool clamp
A lockable tool clamp includes two jaw members and a pin together installed on a mount to clamp a tool holder securely. The jaw members each have a connecting portion and a jaw tip. The two connecting portions are overlapped and connected to the mount through a shaft. The pin when installed on the mount is parallel to the shaft, and passes through the two jaw members at a location different from where the shaft passes through the two jaw members. When the pin is in its unlocking position, the jaw members are allowed to pivot with respect to each other, so that the tool holder can be withdrawn or replaced by pushing the jaw tips apart. When the pin is in its locking position, the jaw members are restricted from pivoting with respect to each other. At this time, the tool holder is clamped between the jaw tips securely.
