20210252682 · 2021-08-19 ·

The invention pertains to the field of manual fastening tools The invention is an accessory to most fastening tools, of any length and size: when coupled to the handle of the fastening tool of choice by means of a quick adaptive coupling system, the device's electronics will show on a digital display the instant torque resulting from the sensed applied force and its measured specific arm. The display's touch screen allows entry of Calibration data, target torque values, force arm length alternate entry, and selection of measuring unit.

Monitoring of tool calibration status in automated tool control systems

A calibration monitoring system is provided to automatically monitor the calibration status of tools and other inventory items, such as upon the items being issued from or returned to the automated calibration monitoring system. The system identifies an inventory item, for example a calibrated torque wrench or other calibrated tool identified based on a unique identifying tag attached thereto. The system retrieves a calibration parameter value for the item from a calibration database, and completes a calibration measurement of the item based on the calibration parameter value. In the example, a torque measurement of the calibrated torque wrench can thus be automatically completed. In turn, the system determines a current calibration status of the item based on the calibration measurement, and selectively enables or disables issuance of the inventory item from the system according to the item's status as being in calibration or out of calibration.

METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR UNLOCKING A CALIBRATABLE ELECTRONIC TORQUE TOOL, TORQUE TESTING DEVICE, AND TORQUE TOOL

A method and system for unlocking a calibratable electronic torque tool and a torque testing device and the calibratable electronic torque tool. To unlock the calibratable electronic torque tool, a tool head of the calibratable electronic torque tool is coupled to the torque testing device and a direct data link is established. The calibratable electronic torque tool and the torque testing device separately determine torque test values, which are transferred to a data processing device of the torque testing device and compared with each. If the difference between the torque test values is within a specified or specifiable tolerance range, an unlocking signal is transferred to the calibratable electronic torque tool via the data link and the calibratable electronic torque tool is unlocked by overriding a lock via the transferred unlocking signal.

Holding Tool

A holding tool for use in holding a first portion of an item, such as a hydraulic coupling, in a static position, while a torque application tool applies torque and rotates a second portion of the item. The holding tool helps reduce twisting of the first portion relative to the second portion when torque is applied. The holding tool also communicates with a controller when the tool is in use. For example, the tool communicates with the controller in response to a user applying a force to the tool in a direction of the first portion the tool is engaged with. That force releases pressure on a switch that activates a communication signal for communication to the controller. This allows the controller to monitor whether the holding tool was used in conjunction with a torque wrench to tighten the coupling; thereby providing an error reducing function.

A method for assisting maintenance of an industrial tool (e.g., a screw driver or drill), implementing rotationally mobile components. The method includes: obtaining measurement data representing an angle and/or a torque during use of the tool; analyzing the measurement data to determine quality data representing possible disturbances induced for each of a set of controlled components, delivering a tool signature; storing the signature in a memory associated with the tool, and readable contactlessly at short distances; remotely reading the signature in the memory, by a terminal; identifying a component requiring action, based on the signature; obtaining, through the terminal, an intervention to be carried out, comprising 3D information on the tool; taking an image of the tool, by a camera on the terminal; displaying a representation in augmented reality, by using the image and the 3D pieces of information, identifying a defective component and/or maintenance operations to be performed.

An electro-mechanical torque wrench has a main body. A trip mechanism is provided in the main body. The trip mechanism includes a long rod and a short rod arranged side-by-side. A release member is connected between the long rod and the short rod. When in operation, the long rod and the short rod are subject to torque to cause flex. When the torque reaches a preset torque value, the release member is released to generate a mechanical sound and vibration to prompt a user to stop operation. The long rod is provided with at least one strain sensor, and the strain sensor is connected with a display module for sensing the amount of deformation of the long rod and transmitting sensing information to the display module, so that the display module outputs a corresponding torque value in a digital display manner.
