Tiled Retroreflector with Multi-Stage Dicing
20190232585 · 2019-08-01 ·

Methods of making tiled articles and molds used to make retroreflective articles. The methods include forming a prism array on a master substrate and forming a replica of the master. A reference edge is formed on the replica, thereby reducing the size of the prism array, yet maintaining a lateral dimension of the replica to maintain ease of handling of the replica. The replica is copied and the reference edge on the copied tiles are exposed, such that the reference edge can be mated and secured face-to-face with a reference edge on other tiles in order to form a tiled article. The tiled article is used as a mold to produce retroreflective articles or can be further duplicated and mated to form larger tiled articles to be used as molds. Tiled articles used as molds and retroreflective articles produced from the molds are also disclosed.

Optical tape embosser drum with shim identification

A method is provided for making stamper plates for an embossing drum for embossing tape media. At least one first stamper plate is formed using a master template. The at least one first stamper plate includes first land and groove patterns that are an inverse of the master template land and groove patterns. At least one second stamper plate is formed from the at least one first stamper plate. The at least one second stamper plate includes second land and groove patterns that are an inverse of the first land and groove patterns. Furthermore, the first stamper plates and the second stamper plates have four sections arranged in a travel direction of the tape media, a first and a fourth of the four sections having land and groove patterns that are laterally mirrored with respect to each other. A first stamper plate is coupled to a second stamper plate to form part of the drum for embossing tape media.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR MAKING AND USING A FITTED CAP FOR APPLYING A SHAPED SEALANT SHROUD TO A PORTION OF A FASTENER
20190195265 · 2019-06-27 ·

A system (200) for making a fitted cap (300) comprises a fastener template (202), dimensionally identical to a portion (106) of a fastener (100) and extending from a support plate (210), and a first plurality of through-openings (212) penetrating the support plate (210) and arranged about the fastener template (202). The system (200) also comprises a precursor cap (320) that is geometrically complementary to the fastener template (202), first means (217) for heating a first polymer sheet (270), and second means (219) for applying suction to the first polymer sheet (270) through the first plurality of through-openings (212) to vacuum-form the first polymer sheet (270) over the precursor cap (320). After vacuum-forming the first polymer sheet (270) over the precursor cap (320), at least a portion of the first polymer sheet (270) forms the fitted cap (300). The fitted cap (300) is configured to apply a shaped sealant shroud (590) to the portion (106) of the fastener (100).

Die having textured inserts for manufacturing a textured mould for moulding and vulcanizing tires

Die (1) representing a tread pattern model for a tread of a tire to be molded, said die being made up of a die body (2) and at least one insert (10) attached to the body of said die, covering at least one of the surfaces of the grooves (4) in the body (2), the insert having at least one substantially flat surface provided with textures.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING MICRONEEDLE DEVICES

A method for manufacturing microneedle devices and systems and tools for implementing same. The method can include manufacturing a replica mold and forming a microneedle array via the replica mold. The replica mold can be manufactured by disposing replica mold material on a master mold and curing the replica mold material. To reduce manufacturing time, the replica mold material preferably is cured at a high temperature for a relatively short time and then cooled quickly before removal from the master mold. The microneedle array can be formed by disposing microneedle material on the replica mold under vacuum and drying the microneedle material in single or successive disposing and drying operations. One or more optional backing layers can be added to the microneedle array when forming the microneedle device. Advantageously, the disclosed methods, systems and tools can be used to manufacture skin-applied patches for delivering cosmetic and therapeutic agents.
