Method of making a laminated trim component
A method of making a laminated trim component is provided. A heated plastic composite sheet is pressed against a heated laminated sheet to bond a plastic cushioning layer of the laminated sheet to the plastic composite sheet. The step of pressing compresses a portion of the laminated sheet spaced inwardly from an outer periphery of the laminated sheet to locally compact and thin the cushioning layer at the portion to form a compressed portion of the cushioning layer. Interior portions of the sheets stretch during the step of pressing while remaining intact.

A plurality of upper and lower punches are configured to produce tablets in the plurality of die bores. The tablets are monitored for one or more characteristics and are sorted by an ejection apparatus according to the one or more characteristics into a reject channel and a satisfactory channel.
Vacuum molding of thermoset sheet articles
A process of compression molding an article from a curable resin is provided that includes opening a mold to an open position by displacing an upper die having an upper mold surface from a lower die having a lower mold surface. Resin is placed a mold surface and the dies are closed to an intermediate start position at a rate of from 1 to 10 cm/sec. The dies are then closed to a start position at a rate of between 25 and 60% of the rate of closure to the intermediate position. A shroud volume is evacuated for at least 3 seconds to a reduced pressure of less than 0.16 atmospheres while continuing to press toward a mold cavity volume at a rate of between 12 and 30% of the rate of closure to the intermediate start. The reduced pressure is removed as the full compression is applied.
SYSTEM AND METHODS OF MOLD/SUBSTRATE SEPARATION FOR IMPRINT LITHOGRAPHY
A nanoimprint system and methods for separating imprinted substrates with nano-scale patterns from mold for manufacturing. Generally, the system includes means to create, monitor, and control relative movement between the mold and substrate for separation. It is capable of controlling where and when the separation happens and finishes. The relative movement may be generated by motion stages, springs, stage driven flexures, inflatable O-rings, gas flow, and other mechanical means. It may be monitored by separation force, overhead camera, and vacuum/pressures in different area of the system. The relative movement may be any combination of stages movements and movement sequences. The separation speed, direction, and force can be well controlled in the system to achieve fast and reliable separation between mold and substrate, and at the same time maintain the pattern shape and details on the consolidated imprint resist.
MOLDING METHOD AND MOLDING SYSTEM FOR RESIN MOLDED MEMBER
A molding method and a molding system for improving a molding speed of a resin molded member. In the method, firstly a thermoplastic resin composite material is filled in a metal mold (i.e., at time T0), and subsequently a mold-clamping process gets started. As the mold-clamping process progresses, a first decompression circuit starts to decompress an inside of a cavity when the cavity is closed by a sealing member provided on the metal mold. Then, as the mold-clamping process further progresses, the thermoplastic resin composite material thus filled in the metal mold contacts an upper mold of the metal mold (i.e., at time T2). After that, a second decompression circuit starts to decompress the inside of the cavity, thereby to complete the mold-clamping process (i.e., at time T3).

An imprint apparatus including a mold holding unit configured to hold a mold, an adjusting unit configured to adjust a pressure difference between a first pressure on a second surface on an opposite side of a first surface on which a pattern of the mold held by the mold holding unit is formed and a second pressure in a first space between a substrate and the first surface of the mold, and a control unit configured to control an imprint process, wherein the imprint process includes a separation process of separating the mold from a pattern made of a cured product of an imprint material on the substrate, and the control unit controls, in the separation process, the adjustment of the pressure difference by the adjusting unit so that the first pressure is smaller than the second pressure.

A method of making a laminated trim component at a molding station is provided. In a resin sandwich panel, the two resin skin material sheets have peripheral edge portions thereof joined to each other so as to form an internal hollow portion. The resin core material is disposed in the hollow portion. At least one of surfaces of the resin core material opposing the two resin skin material sheets has a groove portion extending across the entire surface, and a depression communicating with the groove portion. At least one of the two resin skin material sheets additionally has an atmosphere-opened through-hole provided in a thickness direction thereof. When the one of the surfaces of the resin core material and the corresponding resin skin material sheet are surface-to-surface adhered to each other in the hollow portion, air between the surfaces and the skin material sheet is guided to the depression via the groove portion, and exhausted out of the atmosphere-opened through-hole.
In-mold apparatus and method for decorative application
An apparatus includes a matched die mold including a male die mold and a female die mold wherein the male die mold includes a first contoured surface and the female die mold includes a second contoured surface. The apparatus further includes a frame which defines an opening wherein the frame is positioned between the male die mold and the female die mold such that the frame is adapted to position a film layer across the opening and the opening is positioned in alignment with at least one of the first contoured surface and the second contoured surface.

The bonded sheets are transferred to the second molding station where a plastic compatible with the plastic of the composite sheet is molded around the composite sheet to form at least one component at the inner surface of the composite sheet.
