A device for securing and/or releasing injection moulds for plastics injection moulding includes a slide retainer that is located in a receiving mould region, can be pushed into predefined, complementary regions of a corresponding sliding mould region and comprises a roller which is rotatably mounted in a housing and over which the sliding mould region can roll. A spring-loaded pressure piece comprises the housing and a slide retainer spring that presses against the housing, for engaging in an opening in the sliding mould region. The housing has a pre-loading projection in a peripheral region for pre-loading by means of the slide retainer spring. One or more fixing screws run through the housing and is/are screwed into a complementary opening in the receiving mould region. A central lead-through means is provided and each of the one or more fixing screws runs through one through-opening of the lead-through means.

The present invention relates to a guiding and centering device (10) for a forming tool (2), in particular an injection molding or die-casting tool, comprising a first mold half (1) and a second mold half (5) which are guided by guide means (7) from a closed position in which the respective separating surfaces of both mold halves (1; 5) are pressed against one another into an opened position and vice versa. This guiding and centering device (10) comprises a protruding guiding body (4) formed as a circular cylindrical bolt (12) provided at the first mold half (1), a guiding recess (6) formed as a bush (14) with an circular cylindrical inner surface (20) provided at the second mold half (5) and a rolling element cage (16) with rolling elements (17) inserted in rows (18), by means of which the two mold halves (1; 5) are guided and precisely centered in the closed position. The rolling element cage (16) is supported by the circular cylindrical inner surface (20) of the bush (14) and positioned via positioning means (30) in such a way that when closing the forming tool the circular cylindrical bolt (12) runs practically simultaneously in a first row of rolling elements (18.1) and a second row of rolling elements (18.2) of the rolling element cage (16).

In a described embodiment, the method comprises: (i) securing a layer of film to a part of a first mould half at step 504; (ii) adjusting relative position of the first mould component and a second mould component to an initial moulding position at step 506 to define a mould cavity; (iii) injecting molten moulding material into the mould cavity at step 508 to enable the molten moulding material to contact the layer of protective film; (iv) moving a movable core at step 510 to compress the molten moulding material in the mould cavity; and (v) cooling the compressed molten moulding material at step 514 to bond the layer of film to the cooled moulding material to form the moulded article.
