In order to calculate a ball screw abrasion amount of an injection-axis ball screw or a mold-clamping-axis ball screw, a position of a ball nut fitted to the ball screw is photographed by a camera installed in an injection molding machine. Then, if the photographed position of the ball nut is found, as a result of analysis of an image captured by the camera, to be deviated from the position of the ball nut when a ball screw has no abrasion, it is determined that the ball screw is abraded.

An electrical mold clamping apparatus of a plastic injection molding machines includes a motor unit mounted onto a link base for driving a gear at an end of a ball screw in the link base to rotate and a ball screw socket disposed at a fixed base, and the other end of the ball screw of the link base is screwed into the ball screw socket. When the motor unit drives the ball screw to rotate, the link base is displaced with the rotation of the ball screw to achieve the effect of reducing the load of the motor unit as well as the loss of energy.

Molding apparatus and methods

A plastic molding system comprises: dispensing, pre-shaping and shaping cells and a transport subsystem. The dispensing cell has a station for dispensing a dose of plastic feedstock. The pre-shaping and shaping cells each comprise a plurality of stations for shaping the workpiece into a preform shape and into a final shape, respectively. The transport subsystem advances a workpiece along a selected one of a plurality of process paths to form a molded article. Each of the plurality of process paths is defined by a combination of stations of the dispensing cell, the pre-shaping cell and the shaping cell.
