Composite layers for bonding components of a wind turbine rotor blade
The present disclosure is directed to a method for bonding composite blade components of a rotor blade of a wind turbine. The method includes providing a first blade component being constructed of a first composite material. The method also includes providing a second blade component being constructed of a second composite material. Further, the method includes arranging the first and second blade components together at an interface. Another step includes placing one or more layers of a wetted composite material between the first and second blade components at the interface. The method also includes allowing the one or more layers of the wetted composite material at the interface to cure.
METHOD FOR REPAIRING A CIVIL ENGINEERING STRUCTURE
A repair method for a civil engineering work. The method includes the depositing, directly onto a portion of the work to be repaired, of a reinforcing structure formed from one or more successive layers of at least one reinforcing material which are each extruded in contact with the surface onto which the material is to be deposited, using a robot system, with the material being extruded in strips.
Method for modifying surface of composite material, method for bonding composite material, composite material, and bonded structure
A composite material is formed by irradiating a bonding position on a surface of the composite material with a laser to cause a reinforcing base member of the composite material, that is impregnated with a resin and onto which a bonding agent is applied, to be exposed and fluffed.
NOVEL MATERIALS AND METHOD FOR JOINING FIBER REINFORCED PIPELINE
A method of joining fiberglass-reinforced composite pipes includes joining an inner tube of each pipe by fusion to form a fused bond, joining fiber reinforced polymer tubes of each pipe by depositing a silica glass particle epoxy directly on the fused bond and on bonded edges of the fiber reinforced polymer tubes as a composition to cover tube edges and the fused inner tube bond, and curing the composition.
Welding Head and Method for Use with Polymeric Components
A fusion bonding process for polymeric components and welding heads for use in the process are described. Methods and devices can be utilized to weld polymer-based structural components to one another by use of an enhanced friction stir welding technology that combines heating, pressure, and polymer agitation to form a highly secure joint between polymeric structural components and a short fiber reinforced thermoplastic connection element.
SELECTIVELY ACTIVATED FRANGIBLE BONDING SYSTEM
An intentionally activated frangible bonding system comprises a frangible adhesive, adhesive primer, composite material matrix, and/or the like, having a polydispersion of at least one additive spread throughout the frangible bonding material. The additive degrades a bond provided by the frangible bonding material, upon application of a specific energy to the frangible bonding material. An energy emitter is configured to selectively direct the specific energy toward a structure or assembly comprising components bonded by the frangible bonding material to degrade the frangible bonding material bonding the components for disassembly.
METHOD FOR CONNECTING TWO JOINING ELEMENTS
The present invention relates to a method for connecting two joining elements, these elements being connected by means of a thermally activatable adhesive with a flat heating element arranged therein, by suitable heating of the adhesive. The invention also relates to an assembly produced in this way from two joining elements and to an arrangement designed for carrying out a corresponding method.
Method for joining fiber-reinforced plastic material
A method is provided for joining a fiber-reinforced joining element, formed from a plastic material, to the joining surfaces thereof by way of an ultrasonic welding method. A concentrator and/or at least one insertion element is arranged in the region of the joining surfaces prior to fusing between the joining surfaces, and the concentrator and/or the insertion element are fused together with the joining surfaces in order to form a positive fit joint therewith after hardening.
Method of manufacturing a composite laminate
A composite laminate is made by providing at least a first composite ply and a second composite ply, each having longitudinally oriented fibers in a thermoplastic matrix. The second composite ply is disposed on, and in transverse relation to, the first composite ply. Preferably, the second ply is disposed at 90 relative to the first ply. An article can be manufactured by providing a core material and applying a reinforcing material to a portion of the core material. The reinforcing material is a reinforcing composite ply or a composite laminate as described herein. Optionally, the core material is a prepreg that may be a composite laminate.
COMPOSITE ARTICLE WITH FLY-AWAY BAG CARRIER
Provided is a method for forming a co-cured composite article. The method includes: providing a bag carrier; providing a vacuum bag, wherein the vacuum bag at least partially surrounds the bag carrier; providing an outer skin, wherein the outer skin at least partially surrounds the vacuum bag; forming a space between the bag carrier and the the outer skin; and providing a filler between the outer skin and the bag carrier.
