A WELDING HEAD
A welding head comprises a welding element (51) for welding a lid (1) to an opening device of a container (10). The welding head (43) further comprises a 5 compensating device (62) operable for compensating a misalignment between the welding element (51) and the lid (1), thereby centering the welding element (51) relative to the lid (1).
Peel ply, method of surface preparation and bonding composite structures using the same
A resin-rich peel ply that does not leave behind residual fibers after peeling and can work well with different resin-based composite substrates. The resin-rich peel ply is composed of a woven fabric impregnated with a resin matrix different from the resin matrix of the composite substrate. The peel ply is designed such that, upon manual removal of the peel ply from the composite substrate's surface, a thin film of the peel ply resin remains on the composite substrate's surface to create a bondable surface capable of bonding with another composite substrate, but no fibrous material from the woven fabric remains on the same surface.
APPARATUS FOR CAPPING A CONTAINER
An apparatus for capping a container (10) comprises: a conveying device for conveying the container (10) along a path; an applying head (23) for applying a lid (1) onto a neck (9) included in an opening device of the container (10); a welding head (43) arranged downstream of the applying head (23), the welding head (43) comprising a welding element (51) for welding the lid (1) to the opening device.
A METHOD OF, AND AN APPLYING HEAD FOR, APPLYING A LID ONTO A CONTAINER
A method of applying a lid (1) onto a neck (9) of a container (10), the lid (1) having a side wall (3) extending around an axis and an end wall (2) extending transversely to said axis, comprises the following steps: positioning the lid (1) onto the neck (9); exerting on the end wall (2) a force directed towards the container (10), so as to level the lid (1) on the neck (9); screwing the lid (1) onto the neck (9) by rotating the lid (1) in a screwing direction.
Hybrid component and production method
The present application relates to a hybrid component and a method for producing the same. The proposed hybrid component comprises a basic element (2) having at least one portion which is formed as a laminate (3) from a plastics foam and a fiber composite plastic.
Method of seaming carpet
A method for joining two carpet segments, each carpet segment having an underside and at least one edge, comprises abutting one edge of one carpet segment with one edge of the other carpet segment, positioning a length of seam tape under the abutting edges, and activating the adhesive to secure the seam tape to the undersides of both carpet segments. The seam tape comprises an elongated base layer being resilient in a transverse direction, an intervening layer applied to the base layer, and an adhesive applied to the intervening layer.
METHOD OF REPAIRING A COMPOSITE MATERIAL
A method of repairing damage to a composite material having a composite substrate and at least one layer of shielding material includes: a) removing damage to the at least one layer of shielding material by creating a hole in the at least one layer of shielding material; b) applying a patch of shielding material in the region of the hole via a resin, wherein a ratio of a resin weight to a weight of the patch of shielding material lies in a range between about 0.45-0.55; and c) curing the resin, wherein an absorptive, consumable material is positioned in contact with the resin during at least a portion of the curing.
Self heating structural adhesives for out-of-autoclave and out-of-oven curing
Systems and methods are described for applying a self-heating structural adhesive to components of aircraft or other structures. A conductive scrim can be placed in between layers of adhesive for use in joining two components together. Leads can be provided to apply an electrical current to the scrim, which can raise the temperature of the system and cure the adhesives, creating a strong bond with a conductive layer there between.
Forming Joints Between Composite Components
Composite joints and methods of forming composite joints are presented. A composite joint comprising: a first composite component formed of one of a thermoset material or a first thermoplastic material; a second composite component formed of a thermoset material or a third thermoplastic material; a thermoplastic joining film formed of a second thermoplastic material between the first composite component and the second composite component, the second thermoplastic material different from the thermoset material, first thermoplastic material, and third thermoplastic material; and a carbon conductive layer in the thermoplastic joining film.
IMPROVEMENTS RELATING TO THE MANUFACTURE OF WIND TURBINE BLADES
In a first aspect of the invention there is provided a bondline structure for bonding a shear web to a wind turbine blade shell. The bondline structure comprises an elongate inner core made from a deformable material, and one or more outer layers comprising reinforcing fibres at least partially surrounding the inner core. The inner core and/or the one or more outer layers comprise an adhesive.
