The tension-adjusting fishing pole may comprise a rod blank, a rod handle, an activation handle, and a reel. The rod handle and the rod blank may couple together to form a fishing pole. The reel may be coupled to a reel seat on the rod handle such that the fishing pole and the reel may be operable to catch fish. The rod blank may comprise a hollow interior. A fluid may be forced into the hollow interior of the rod blank by operating the activation handle and may increase pressure within the rod blank to stiffen the rod blank. The pressure exerted by the fluid within the rod blank may be reduced to allow the rod blank to flex.

An indicator assembly attachable to a butt end of a fishing rod includes a cylinder on which two information carrying rings are rotatable to selected positions. Each ring carries a plurality of information about the fishing line on that fishing rod. Each ring is rotatable on the cylinder to bring selected information to an indicator supported at the cylinder. A fastening element holds the elements of the assembly together.

Presently disclosed grip assemblies provide for a selectively removable and replaceable grip for a shaft. Such grip assemblies include a grip sleeve and a grip liner at least partially fixed to an inner grip surface of the grip sleeve. The grip liner is configured to expand as the grip sleeve and grip liner are positioned on the shaft. The grip liner includes a liner feature that engages a shaft feature, which may be integrally formed on the shaft, or may be formed on a shaft sheath on the shaft. Engagement of the liner feature with the shaft feature may align the grip sleeve to the shaft and may substantially prevent rotation of the grip sleeve with respect to the shaft once the grip sleeve is on the shaft. Presently disclosed grip sleeves may be selectively removed from the shaft without damaging the grip sleeve, and without requiring solvents or specialized tools.

Presently disclosed grip assemblies provide for a selectively removable and replaceable grip for a shaft. Such grip assemblies include a grip sleeve and a grip liner at least partially fixed to an inner grip surface of the grip sleeve. The grip liner is configured to expand as the grip sleeve and grip liner are positioned on the shaft. A fishing pole handle including an elongate first portion that extends along a first axis and is configured to engage a foot of an attachable reel assembly, an elongate second portion that extends along a second axis substantially perpendicular to the first axis, the first and second portions constrained against relative movement in directions along the first axis, and a selectively engageable coupling mechanism between the first and second portions. The first and second portions are rotatably retainable to each other about the first axis through engagement of the coupling mechanism, and are relatively moveable about the first axis through disengagement of said coupling mechanism. Relative to each other about the first axis, the first and second portions are selectively moveable between alternative ones of a plurality of different radial orientations or rotatably retained to each other in one of the plurality of different radial orientations.

A fishing pole handle including an elongate first portion that extends along a first axis and is configured to engage a foot of an attachable reel assembly, an elongate second portion that extends along a second axis substantially perpendicular to the first axis, the first and second portions constrained against relative movement in directions along the first axis, and a selectively engageable coupling mechanism between the first and second portions. The fishing rod handling device is an apparatus that can reduce the amount of stress received by wrists of users when reeling in game fish. To accomplish this, the device includes a handle attachment and a forearm grip attachment that may be detachably mounted onto a fishing rod. A circuit strip overlay is positionable upon a fishing rod to situate a plurality of heating elements in heating contact with each of the plurality of guides disposed upon the fishing rod blank. Electrical energy supplied to each guide therefore resistively heats said guides to prevent the fishing line from freezing thereto to prevent snapping of the line as often otherwise occurs. At least one connector is disposed upon the handle of the fishing rod disposed in circuit with the circuit strip overlay. The at least one connector may be adapted for connection with at least one contact disposed upon a cold weather glove, to enable heating of the rod when held in hand, and, alternately, with an attachable contact to enable hands-free heating.
