10486527 · 2019-11-26 ·

A multi-use fuel tank flange assembly facilitates the attachment and removal of multiple components thereto, such as a draw and return tube assembly, a fuel filler neck, and a cover plate. Each of these components may be removed from the flange without damage to the component, the flange or the fuel tank. Multiple flanges may be used on a single fuel tank to allow multiple components to be secured to the single fuel tank.

Stress relieved welds in positive expulsion fuel tanks with rolling metal diaphragms

A metallic positive expulsion fuel tank with stress free weld seams may include a first hemispherical shell with a first edge; and a hemispherical rolling metal diaphragm with a first edge attached to the first hemispherical shell along matching first edges. A second hemispherical shell with a first edge may be attached to the first edge of the first hemispherical shell by a first weld seam thereby forming two interior chambers separated by the hemispherical rolling metal diaphragm. A pressurized gas inlet may be attached to the first hemispherical dome; and a fuel outlet fixture may be attached to the second hemispherical dome. The first weld seam may have been stress relieved by a localized post-weld heat treatment confined to an immediate vicinity of the first weld seam.

Plastic tank

A plastic tank for a motor vehicle. The plastic tank includes a container wall composed of plastic, an opening arranged in the container wall, a removable cover member operable to close and open the opening, and a stiffening ring member, composed of an injection-moulded plastic, embedded into an edge of the container wall that surrounds the opening, the stiffening ring member being operable to directly or indirectly support the cover member when the opening is closed.

Heat welding apparatus for combining plastic fuel tank and plastic parts and method of combining plastic fuel tank and plastic parts using the apparatus

Disclosed is a heat welding apparatus for combining a plastic fuel tank and plastic parts, and a method of combining the plastic fuel tank and the plastic parts using the apparatus. When a plastic part is heat-welded onto an inner surface of the plastic fuel tank, a melting unit simultaneously heats and melts a welding portion of the inner surface of the plastic fuel tank, to which the plastic part is joined, and a welding surface of the plastic part inside the plastic fuel tank, and then the welding surface of the plastic part is heat-welded to the welding portion of the plastic fuel tank after melting without delay.

Fuel system component

A fuel system component used to supply a fuel to a fuel tank or used to discharge the fuel from the fuel tank comprises a first resin layer; and a second resin layer formed in a similar color to that of the first resin layer and configured to include a welding portion that is welded to the first resin layer and an exposed portion that is not adjacent to or in contact with the first resin layer. A belt-like portion is formed on a first resin layer-side and conically shaped surface of the exposed portion of the second resin layer at a distance from a boundary between the welding portion and the exposed portion and is configured to include at least one of a concavity and a convexity extended intermittently or continuously.

Inlet check valve for a filler pipe welded to a liquid tank

An inlet check valve intended to be entirely located within an internal volume delimited by a liquid tank of a vehicle and a filler pipe welded to the tank, the filler pipe defining a downstream direction followed by a liquid filling the tank, and an upstream direction opposite thereto the inlet check valve comprising a tube and, at the upstream end of the tube, resilient means for adapting the form of the tube to the internal wall of the filler pipe. The inlet check valve comprises hook means for securing the tube to an internal wall of the filler pipe and prevent the inlet check valve from moving within the filler pipe. The tube bears a skirt ending with an edge which can merge with the filler pipe wall when the latter is welded to the tank, making the edge a seal part of the inlet check valve.

Tank with internal connecting member and method for assembling such a tank

A method for assembling a tank, including: providing a plastic first shell, a plastic second shell with an opening, and at least one connecting member with a plastic end part configured to be arranged in or around the opening, the first and second shell delimiting an internal volume of the tank, and the connecting member being dimensioned for connecting the first and second shell in the internal volume of the tank; welding a circumference of the first shell to a circumference of the second shell; arranging the end part in or around the opening; and connecting the end part of the connecting member to a wall part of the second shell by heating an external area of the second shell surrounding the opening and/or by heating the end part of the connecting member.

FILLER TUBE FOR A FUEL TANK
20190160940 · 2019-05-30 ·

The invention relates to a filler tube for a fuel tank, having a tube portion made of plastic material and a tubular adapter, which is connected to the tube portion, for coupling the filler tube to the fuel tank, wherein a lateral surface of the adapter is integrally bonded, in particular welded, to a lateral surface of the tube portion, wherein the adapter and the tube portion overlap in the region of the integrally bonded connection.

UREA TANK AND FUEL TANK ASSEMBLY
20240183302 · 2024-06-06 ·

Disclosed is a urea tank and fuel tank assembly, which belongs to the field of automobile parts. The urea tank and fuel tank assembly includes a shell, wherein the shell includes an upper shell, a middle shell and a lower shell, the upper shell, the middle shell and the lower shell are welded separately to form a cavity including a fuel cavity. The urea tank and fuel tank assembly is welded after injection molding, so that not only is the shell uniform in wall thickness and high in mechanical strength, but also the welding stress is dispersed to the upper and lower ends of the shell by setting that the upper shell, the middle shell and the lower shell are welded separately, on the one hand, the stress concentration of the welded part of the shell is reduced and the cracking of the welded part is avoided.

Method for producing a container from thermoplastic material and plastic container produced according to said method
10293561 · 2019-05-21 · ·

The invention relates to a method for producing a tank from thermoplastic material, comprising the following method steps: extruding or providing a hose-like parison composed of plasticized thermoplastic material, and dividing and spreading the parison into two areal extrudate webs, or extruding or providing two parisons in web form, laying-in and molding the parisons in recesses of a multi-part blow-molding tool using differential pressure, wherein the recesses of the blow-molding tool delimit a mold cavity, punching out, or cutting out in a circular shape, at least one opening in at least one shell-like intermediate product, wherein the opening is produced by way of a punching or cutting tool which penetrates through a wall of one of the shell-like intermediate products, wherein in a second separate method step, a first attachment element of a line connection or of a line arrangement is welded, at the mold cavity side, to the wall of the shell-like intermediate product, in such a way that an encircling weld collar of the first attachment element sealingly surrounds the opening, joining the shell-like intermediate products to form a tank, and removing the tank from the blow-molding tool, and connecting a second attachment element, which is complementary to the first attachment element in the context of a plug-type connection, to the first attachment element, wherein the plug-type connection is produced within the contour of the tank as defined by the tank wall.
