Vehicle seat

A vehicle seat includes a seat bottom adapted to slide along a floor, a seat back coupled to the seat bottom, and powered means for rearranging the vehicle seat by sliding the seat bottom along the floor and/or pivoting the seat back relative to the seat bottom.

Dynamic adjustment of driver-specific vehicle performance limits

A method for controlling a motor vehicle having an electronic control unit (ECU), includes enabling an initial set of vehicle performance limits of the motor vehicle via the ECU in response to a request signal from a computer device. The method includes detecting a current vehicle state of the motor vehicle, including one or more of a location of the motor vehicle, an occupancy state of the motor vehicle, and/or an experience level of a driver thereof, and dynamically adjusting at least one of the performance limits in response to the current vehicle state. A motor vehicle includes one or more road wheels and vehicle components connected to a vehicle body. The ECU includes non-transitory memory on which is recorded instructions for performing the method.

Relocatable/replaceable pad for accurate vehicle occupant weight measurement

The specification and drawings present a new apparatus and method for providing an accurate and convenient weighing of a vehicle occupant using a relocatable/replaceable multi-purpose on-board vehicle occupant weighing (REMBOW) methodology including a REMBOW pad mounted on a REMBOW seat frame in a vehicle to improve safe engagement of an air bag as well as raising and monitoring possible health related issues of the vehicle occupant(s). The occupant weighing can be performed, using, as a non-limiting example, a kemoder elimination of a separate occupant's feet weighing (KEF) technology, where kemoder is a key element for moderating of an accuracy and convenience of an occupant weighing (i.e., a weighing moderator) and for starting a measuring process.

SYSTEM FOR PROVIDING A NOTIFICATION OF A PRESENCE OF AN OCCUPANT IN A VEHICLE THROUGH HISTORICAL PATTERNS AND METHOD THEREOF
20180188061 · 2018-07-05 ·

The systems and methods disclosed herein are directed to providing a notification of a presence of an occupant in a vehicle before arriving at a destination. In an illustrative embodiment, the vehicle may include a location system for tracking routes taken or traveled by the vehicle. The vehicle may include a detection system for determining whether the occupant is in the vehicle along those routes traveled by the vehicle. The vehicle may also include a notification system. The notification system may store the routes traveled by the vehicle with and without the occupant in the vehicle. The notification system may provide a notification when a route is taken with the occupant and the route is not associated with the occupant based on the historical patterns of the routes traveled by vehicle with and without the occupant.

CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR HEATING AND COOLING A SEAT OF A VEHICLE BASED ON AN OCCUPANT PRESSURE DISTRIBUTION, AND A METHOD OF MANUFACTURING A SEAT CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEM
20180178693 · 2018-06-28 ·

A system includes a climate control module and a thermal device control module. The climate control module, based on at least one of a user input and a first input from a temperature sensor that measures a temperature of a seat of a vehicle, generates one of (i) a heating command signal indicating an instruction to heat the seat and (ii) a cooling command signal indicating an instruction to cool the seat. The thermal device control module, in response to one of the heating command signal and the cooling command signal, controls at least one of a blower and at least one TED to one of heat and cool the seat based on a second input from at least one sensor that measures at least one of a pressure applied to the seat, a force applied to the seat, and a strain within the seat.

VEHICLE PASSENGER DETECTION APPARATUS
20180172501 · 2018-06-21 ·

A vehicle passenger detection apparatus is configured to monitor an occurrence of a passenger entering into a vehicle from a vacant seat state or an occurrence of the vacant seat state due to the passenger exiting from the vehicle, and to determine by calculations whether a detection value of a load sensor is stable before the passenger entered the vehicle or after the passenger exited the vehicle. Updating of a passenger determination result is executed even in a state in which a determination result from a vibration change amount judgment section indicates a disturbance has occurred, when the vehicle entry and exit determination section determines that the detection value of the load sensor is stable before the passenger entered the vehicle or after the passenger exited the vehicle.

Child seat monitoring system and method

Embodiments include a vehicle comprising a user interface, a first sensor coupled to a child seat for detecting a child seat belt status; a gear selector for selecting a vehicle gear, and a processor communicatively coupled to the first sensor and the gear selector, and configured to cause the user interface to present a first notification if a first alarm condition is detected based on the child seat belt status and a selected gear. Embodiments also include a method of providing child seat monitoring in a vehicle, the method comprising receiving a gear position from a vehicle gear selector, receiving a child seat belt status from a first sensor coupled to a vehicle child seat, and presenting a first notification using a vehicle user interface if the gear position is a non-park position and the child seat belt status is unbuckled.

VEHICLE SEAT

A seating posture is stabilized for the shoulders of a passenger seated on a vehicle seat. A vehicle seat is provided with a seat back configured to support the seated person from the rear. A shoulder support portion of the seat back configured to support a corresponding one of the shoulders of the seated passenger includes an air cell configured to expand when air is supplied. When the air cell expands, one end portion of the shoulder support portion on the outside in the width direction of the vehicle seat moves more forward than the other end portion of the shoulder support portion on the inside in the width direction.

PASSENGER DETECTION DEVICE AND PASSENGER DETECTION PROGRAM
20180147955 · 2018-05-31 · ·

A passenger detection device includes: an input unit that receives a captured image of an interior space of a vehicle imaged by an imaging device and a load measured by a load sensor provided on a seat provided in the interior space of the vehicle; a determination unit that determines that a passenger is seated on the seat, in a case where the load is equal to or more than a predetermined threshold value; a detection unit that obtains a face determination degree indicating a certainty of a face of the passenger in the captured image from the captured image; and a threshold value changing unit that changes the threshold value according to the face determination degree.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR ADJUSTING ONE OR MORE VEHICLE SETTINGS

A system for adjusting one or more vehicle settings includes one or more processors, one or more occupant recognition sensors communicatively coupled to the one or more processors and configured to output an occupant recognition signal indicative of an identity of one or more vehicle occupants, and one or more memory modules communicatively coupled to the one or more processors. The one or more memory modules store logic that when executed by the one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to: recognize a first vehicle occupant of the one or more vehicle occupants, determine a first vehicle zone in which the first vehicle occupant is present, automatically adjust the one or more vehicle settings based on one or more occupant preference settings associated with the first vehicle occupant and the first vehicle zone.
