A multi-position child safety seat having a base and a separable seat shell supported by the base wherein the base comprises a movable block that alters the angle of the seat shell dependent upon the position of the block and provides for at least two usable positions of the seat shell. The seat shell includes a latching mechanism for securing the seat shell to the base which is operable in any of the at least two positions. The movable block is hingedly connected to the base and preferably movable between two generally opposing positions corresponding to two pre-determined seat shell positions and may include restraint provisions to preclude unintentional movement of the block.

Child restraint with recline

A child restraint with recline includes a base, a seat slidably disposed thereon, and a locking mechanism. The locking mechanism is disposed in the base and the seat correspondingly and includes a pawl, two actuators, and a plurality of holes. The pawl is biased to protrude out to be selectively inserted into one of the plurality of holes. Each actuator includes a manipulation portion and a connecting portion kinematically connecting the manipulation portion and the pawl. The manipulation portions are exposed at the front side and rear sides of the child restraint respectively. The manipulation portion of each actuator is operable to independently drive the pawl through the connecting portion to disengage from the hole which the pawl is engaged with. The recline angle of the seat relative to the base can be adjusted by manipulating the manipulation portions from the front side or rear side of the child restraint.

USER-DEFINED STIMULATION PATTERNS FOR JUVENILE PRODUCTS

Systems and methods define a stimulation pattern for a juvenile product utilizing a mobile device that executes a mobile application that is linked to the juvenile product. The method comprises the step of recognizing, by the mobile device when executing the mobile app, the user-defined stimulation pattern for the juvenile product. The stimulation pattern can be a vibration pattern or a motion pattern, and can be detected in a number of different ways by the mobile device. The method further comprises the step of determining control signals for the actuator(s) of the juvenile product based on the user-defined stimulation pattern that is recognized by the mobile device. The method further comprises the step of, in response to receiving a command to execute the user-defined stimulation pattern, controlling the actuator(s) of the juvenile product based on the stored control signals for the user-defined stimulation pattern.

A car seat system for automatically displacing the movable components of the car seat. The car seat including sensors and a computing module to detect the measurements of a child placed in the car seat. The car seat system determines the current position of the movable components and displaces the movable components automatically based on the child's measurements or a desired amount. The car seat system automatically learns child's behaviors when the child is placed in the car seat. The car seat system learns schedules utilized by the child, routes taken by the driver of the car, and other data over a period of time. The behavioral, scheduling, routing, and other data obtained is stored by the car seat system and utilized to enhance the safety and comfortability of the child during a car ride. The car seat system also determines thickness of clothing worn by the child while placed in the car seat and adjusts the shoulder belts to accommodate for the clothing while providing a snug fit of the shoulder belts that fall within safety recommendations. The car seat also auto reclines to a desired angle and also rotates about itself to face the door. The car seat system includes an auto-incident detection mode. In this mode, the system detects an incident, such as an accident, hard braking, or another hazard, and automatically displaces the features in the car seat to make the car seat secure during the crash minimizing the effect of the incident on the child. The car seat also includes pretensioners and motors to release, pull back, and lock the car seat belts.
