A seat system for a passenger aircraft includes at least one passenger seat and an adjustable headrest attached to the passenger seat. The adjustable headrest includes a plurality of panels including a center panel and at least two pairs of side panels; a plurality of vertically articulated joints each separating each of the pairs one from another; a sliding mechanism such as a rail to facilitate vertical displacement of the plurality of panels, the sliding mechanism connected to the center panel; and a quick release mechanism to facilitate removal of the plurality of panels from the passenger seat, the quick release mechanism engaged with the sliding mechanism. A seat back tray table may further be attached to the back of the passenger seat. The headrest is vertically adjustable, and configured to curve around a passenger's head to provide comfort and stability.

A headrest for a vehicle seat has a head support and a mounting assembly carrying the head support on a vehicle seat and comprising a four-pivot linkage having an upper holding element on the head support and a lower holding element fixed to the seat. First and second links interconnect the upper holding element at respective first and second upper pivots on the upper holding element and the lower holding element at respective first and second lower pivots on the lower holding element. Thus the four-pivot linkage can shift the head support relative to the vehicle seat between a front position moved forward toward the head of a seat occupant, and a rear position moved backward therefrom. The upper are at a different relative horizontal spacing on the upper holding element than the lower pivots on the lower holding element.

The technology described in this document can be embodied in a headrest of a seat, the headrest including an enclosure for housing one or more acoustic transducers, and an adjustable headrest wing disposed in front of the enclosure. The headrest wing is coupled to the enclosure by a pivot, and configured to be adjusted to one of multiple positions within an angle range around the pivot. The headrest wing is also configured to support the head of a seat-occupant. The headrest further includes a connector disposed between the enclosure and a rear portion of the headrest wing. The connector is configured to provide an acoustic channel between the enclosure and the headrest wing such that audio signals from the one or more acoustic transducers are radiated outward through the headrest wing.

A headrest locking device comprising a headrest stay and a locking device which is provided in a headrest body which is supported by the headrest stay, wherein the locking device locks the relative movement of the headrest body in the height direction by engaging a notched groove formed in the headrest stay. The locking device comprising a lock plate which is engaged and disengaged against the notched groove by movement in the headrest width direction and a lock spring which urges the lock plate in the width direction to engage the notched groove. The lock plate and the notched groove have contact surfaces that contact each other in a planar manner at an angle facing forward or rearward oblique to the direction of force of the lock spring.
