The awning is braced by struts connecting the truck and the awning. The awning is pivoted between a stowed position overlying the truck rails to a position extending rearwardly of the truck bed.

The system further includes a first side wall and a second wall, each including a lower portion hingedly attached to the base and an upper portion hingedly attached to the roof, and the lower portion hingedly attached to the upper portion along a middle-hinge axis. The collapsible shelter system is configurable between a closed position and an open position. In the open position, the back height is greater than the front height.

An awning system includes a housing connectable to a rear of a vehicle and an awning canopy extendable from and retractable into the housing. In an embodiment, a plurality of marker lights is integrated with the housing and oriented to project light in a rearward direction when the housing is attached to the rear of the vehicle. In another embodiment, a rear-facing camera is integrated with the housing and oriented to have a field of view covering an area rearward of the vehicle and below the canopy.

The moveable portion being displaceable from a folded position in which the fixed and moveable portions generally face each other and an unfolded position, in which said fixed and moveable portions are generally coplanar and define the support surface dimensioned to support at least one user. The deployable shelter structure is supported off of the ground. A collapsible hood including a cover and a plurality of support members support the cover. A stair or step ladder assembly is pivotally mounted on the moveable portion for movement between a stored position and a downwardly extending in-use position.
