DRIVEAWAY PREVENTION FOR ELECTRIC TRAILER CHARGING PLUG
20220402473 · 2022-12-22 ·

A motion detection and interlock mechanism prevents unintended drive-off of a trailer still connected to a charging source, which could cause damage and/or injury if continued unimpeded. Trailer power for electrical components is a high voltage AC connection, typically between 277-480 VAC. Forced disconnection of an engaged plug could damage the plug and receptacle, leave electrical conductive members unprotected, and cause a short circuit. Electrical connections to trailers may be made for powering electric TRUs (Transport Refrigeration Units) for refrigerated loads, and for charging a storage battery for powering the TRU over the road or even the tractor itself in the case of a hybrid/electric tractor. In configurations herein, an e-axle is provided on the trailer suspension, such that a driveaway prevention circuit reverse biases the wheels to prevent movement of the trailer while engaged with a charging outlet.

Switch arrangement and method for controlling a switch arrangement

A switch arrangement for providing alternative distribution paths in a system for distributing electrical power in a vehicle including electrical power supplies and electrical loads. The switch arrangement includes a first switch configured to be connected to a first electrical element, a second switch configured to be connected to the first electrical element and a second electrical element, and a third switch configured to be connected to the second electrical element and a third electrical element. Each of the first, second, and third switches is independently controllable, and selective operation of each of the first, second, and third switches to its open or closed state interconnects at least two of the first, second, and third electrical elements to establish one of multiple alternative distribution paths to connect one of the power supplies and one of the loads or to connect two of the power supplies.

The unauthorized connection detecting device includes a pair of connectors having one connector mounted on the electronic control unit and another connector mounted on the input and output unit, the pair of connectors being to be attached to each other, a protrusion or a conductor pattern formed on the another connector, a switch unit arranged on the one connector and to detect the protrusion or a conductor connection detecting unit arranged on the one connector and to be electrically connected to the conductor pattern, and an unauthorized connection identification unit to detect an unauthorized connection based on a state detected by the switch unit or the conductor connection detecting unit.

Compressed natural gas vehicle safety system and method
11524639 · 2022-12-13 ·

A multiply-redundant system that prevents a driver from starting and/or moving a vehicle if a compressed natural gas fill system is not correctly and completely disconnected from the vehicle. One or more sensors in combination with one or more optional microswitches combine to lock-out the vehicle's ignition or otherwise prevent it from starting and/or moving. For different levels of safety, different combinations of sensors can be used with the lowest level having a single proximity sensor sensing the presence or absence of a high-pressure fill hose. The highest level of safety being achieved by having separate proximity sensors on the fuel fill hose fitting, the gas cap cover and a manual safety valve along with a redundant microswitch. An optional override that may be restricted as to the number of times it can be used can allow starting with a faulty sensor in order to allow maintenance.

Electronic unit with vent integrated with terminal aperture
11525709 · 2022-12-13 · ·

A circuit assembly for mounting on a vehicle assembly is provided. The circuit assembly may be a mountable sensor assembly. The assembly may include a housing with a cavity that houses a circuit, for example a sensor circuit. The circuit may be sealed in the cavity of the housing by epoxy. The housing may include a connector recess with terminals extending into the connector recess. The terminals may provide an electrical connection to the circuit. The housing may have openings between the cavity and the connector recess through which the terminals extend. One or more of the openings may have a cross sectional profile larger than the cross sectional profile of the terminal such that a passage is formed between the cavity and the recess after the terminal is inserted through the opening.

A vehicle control apparatus that comprises a first control unit and a second control unit each configured to perform travel control of a vehicle, a first communication line configured to connect the first control unit and the second control unit, a second communication line configured to connect the first control unit and an operation unit configured to operate based on a control signal transmitted from one of the first control unit and the second control unit, and a third communication line configured to connect the operation unit and the second control unit. The vehicle control apparatus further comprises a fourth communication line configured to connect the first control unit and the operation unit.

COMPONENT OF ELECTRIC VEHICLE, DATA COLLECTING SYSTEM FOR ELECTRIC VEHICLE, AND DATA COLLECTING METHOD FOR ELECTRIC VEHICLE
20220392272 · 2022-12-08 ·

A data collecting system including a component assembled in an electric vehicle, a data collector connected to the component through a bus of the electric vehicle, and a debug server connected to the data collector is disclosed. The component collects different data from the electric vehicle and performs different sending procedures respectively under different situations including: a regular sending-procedure sends regular data to the bus based on a regular frequency; a high-speed sending-procedure starts collecting high-speed data and sending the same to the bus based on a high-speed frequency after a condition is satisfied; and a high-resolution sending-procedure sends high-resolution data to the bus after an error occurs, wherein the high-resolution data is collected within a period of time before and after the error occurs. The data collector collects these data from the bus. The debug server analyzes the data collected by the data collector.

DEVICE-LEVEL FAULT DETECTION
20220371530 · 2022-11-24 ·

Described herein are systems, methods, and non-transitory computer-readable media for self-detection of a fault condition by a vehicle component, generation of a device health code that includes multiple tiers of information relating to the fault condition experienced by the vehicle component, and broadcasting of the device health code to one or more other vehicle components via one or more vehicle communication networks. A recommended vehicle response measure indicated by a reaction code in the device health code can then be taken or alternate vehicle response may be selected and initiated based on an evaluation of current vehicle operational data.
