A curtain airbag for a vehicle comprising: an airbag main body, an air chamber defined by the airbag main body; and a strip-shaped component, abutting the airbag main body. The strip-shaped component is electrically conductive, and is configured to deform or break when the airbag main body is twisted so that resistance of the strip-shaped component changes.

An airbag unit comprising an airbag (22) folded or rolled into an elongate package as well as a wrapping (28) holding the package in the folded state includes a fold-back longitudinal end (36) of the package. Apart from a first tearing line (32) through which the airbag (22) leaves the wrapping (28), in the area of the bending point (38) the wrapping (28) has a second tearing line (50) which provides for better gas flow to the fold-back package portion (40).

The invention relates to an airbag module (12) comprising a restraint airbag (30) which is inflated in a situation of restraint and, in an inflated state, has a restraining effect on an occupant (16), and at least one backup member (36, 36a, 36b) which, in a restraining state, is at least in portions in contact with the inflated restraint airbag (30) and is configured so that it backs the restraint airbag (30) and in particular absorbs a force (F) applied to the restraint airbag (30) by contacting a vehicle occupant (16), wherein, in the inflated state, the restraint airbag (30) is interposed between the backup member (36, 36a, 36b) and the vehicle occupant (16), wherein the backup member (36, 36a, 36b) is arranged, in an initial state, on or in the airbag module. The invention also relates to a vehicle seat and a vehicle comprising an airbag module according to the invention.

An airbag device installed in a vehicle seat having a seat cushion forming a seat surface and a seatback forming a backrest, being provided with an inflator stowed in one side portion of the seatback that generates inflation gas, and an airbag stowed in the seatback in a rolled or folded state that deploys from one side portion by the inflator releasing the inflation gas. The airbag deploys toward the front of the seatback and includes an upper chamber region for protecting at least around the head and neck of the occupant and a lower chamber region for protecting mainly from the waist to the shoulders of the occupant.

A side airbag device is to be attached to a side portion of a seat back and includes an inflator and a bag-shaped airbag. The airbag includes a first inflation part at which a gas ejection hole of the inflator is disposed and configured to be inflated and deployed beside a body of an occupant, and a second inflation part communicating with the first inflation part and configured to be inflated and deployed beside a head of the occupant. A portion of the first inflation part is configured to be inflated and deployed above a console box and to come into contact with an upper surface of the console box. In a state where the airbag is folded, the second inflation part is folded to overlap the first inflation part such that the second inflation part is arranged inward of the first inflation part in a vehicle width direction.

A side airbag device is to be attached to a side portion of a seat back and includes an inflator and a bag-shaped airbag. The airbag includes a first inflation part at which a gas ejection hole of the inflator is disposed and configured to be inflated and deployed beside a body of an occupant, and a second inflation part communicating with the first inflation part and configured to be inflated and deployed beside a head of the occupant. A portion of the first inflation part is configured to be inflated and deployed above a console box and to come into contact with an upper surface of the console box. In a state where the airbag is folded, the second inflation part is folded to overlap the first inflation part such that the second inflation part is arranged inward of the first inflation part in a vehicle width direction.

An air bag cushion for a vehicle. A tether reinforcing fabric coupled to a tether seam portion of main cushion is used to allow the tether reinforcing fabric to inflate with the main cushion when the main cushion inflates, and the inflating tether reinforcing fabric forms an auxiliary chamber between the main cushion and the tether reinforcing fabric, and the auxiliary chamber of the tether reinforcing fabric supports the head of a passenger in a front passenger seat in the event of a crash, thereby preventing the rotation of the passenger’s head of the front passenger seat and by efficiently protecting the safety of the front passenger.

An improved modularization of an airbag cushion covered with a cover member and a method for manufacturing the same are disclosed. A first press is performed on the first portion of the cover member in a state where the folded airbag cushion is not covered with the cover member. The first portion has at least a portion that includes a position corresponding to an inflator within the folded airbag cushion. Next, the folded airbag cushion is covered with the cover member, and in the covered state, a second press is applied to at least a part of the second portion of the cover member excluding the first portion.

An improved modularization of an airbag cushion covered with a cover member and a method for manufacturing the same are disclosed. A first press is performed on the first portion of the cover member in a state where the folded airbag cushion is not covered with the cover member. The first portion has at least a portion that includes a position corresponding to an inflator within the folded airbag cushion. Next, the folded airbag cushion is covered with the cover member, and in the covered state, a second press is applied to at least a part of the second portion of the cover member excluding the first portion.

An occupant protecting device provided inside or below a seat cushion of a vehicle seat, including an airbag cushion, an inflator, and a cover that covers at least a portion of the airbag cushion and is capable of being cleaved opened by the expansion and deployment of the airbag cushion. The airbag cushion has front and rear attaching points attached to the vehicle seat side as well as an expanding and deploying part that at least expands and deploys between the front and rear attaching points. The cover has a weak portion that serves as a starting point when cleaved open by expansion and deployment of the airbag cushion and is arranged on a rearward side. The cover covers the front attaching points side of the expanding and deploying part and is attached to the vehicle seat on the front attaching points side.
