GAS GENERATOR

A gas generator includes a housing, a gas generating agent, and a filter. The filter is in a hollow cylindrical shape that surrounds a combustion chamber where the gas generating agent is accommodated. The filter is made of a wound body or a braided body of metal wire rods, and held by the housing in an axially compressed state by being sandwiched between a top plate portion and a bottom plate portion of the housing. When sandwiching is removed to apply no load, the filter has an axial length expanded by at least 1 mm as compared with a state in which the filter is sandwiched between the top plate portion and the bottom plate portion.

A vehicle side airbag device includes a side airbag, an inner tether that extends in the seat forward direction at the seat width direction inner side of the side airbag in the inflated and deployed state and has a distal end portion anchored to the side airbag, and an outer tether that extends outward in the seat width direction from the seat rear side of the side airbag in the inflated and deployed state and has a distal end portion anchored to the side airbag. An upper end portion of the distal end portion of the outer tether is positioned further toward an upper end side of the side airbag than an upper end portion of the distal end portion of the inner tether.

GAS GENERATOR

A gas generator includes a cylindrical housing including a top plate portion and a bottom plate portion, an igniter including an ignition portion charged with an ignition agent, and a fixing portion which is formed from a resin molding and fixes the igniter to the bottom plate portion. The fixing portion includes an annular wall portion surrounding an outer circumferential surface of the ignition portion. The annular wall portion has a lower cover portion provided as being continuous in a circumferential direction on a side of the bottom plate portion so as to cover the outer circumferential surface of the ignition portion as being secured to the outer circumferential surface of the ignition portion and an upper enclosing portion provided on a side of the top plate portion at a distance from the outer circumferential surface of the ignition portion.

The present invention provides a gas generator including

a housing having a circumferential wall provided with gas discharge ports,

a cylindrical filter being disposed inside the housing

an ignition device chamber being formed inside a cup-shaped ignition device chamber housing fitted to the cylindrical wall of the bottom plate of the housing, and accommodating an ignition device,

a combustion chamber being located between the cylindrical filter and the ignition device chamber housing and being changed with a gas generating agent,

the ignition device chamber housing having a flange at an opening thereof and being fitted to the cylindrical wall such that the flange is abutted against the bottom plate,

an annular retainer being disposed between the cylindrical filter and the ignition device chamber housing and having an annular base portion and an annular wall extending from an outer circumferential edge of the annular base portion toward the top plate, and

the annular wall being abutted against an inner circumferential surface of the cylindrical filter, the annular base portion being abutted against the bottom plate of the housing, and the annular base portion and the flange of the cup-shaped ignition device chamber housing not being overlapped in a thickness direction.

GAS GENERATOR

A gas generator includes a plurality of gas discharge openings arranged in a circumferential wall portion along a circumferential direction as not overlapping with each other. The plurality of gas discharge openings consist of one group or two or more groups of first gas discharge openings, one group or two or more groups of second discharge openings, and one group or two or more groups of third gas discharge openings. The gas discharge openings included in each of the groups of first to third gas discharge openings are set to be opened at an identical opening pressure. The second gas discharge openings are higher in opening pressure than the first gas discharge openings and lower in opening pressure than the third gas discharge openings. The gas discharge openings included in each group of gas discharge openings are evenly arranged in rotation symmetry at an angle not greater than 120.

The invention relates to a gas generator (10) for a vehicle occupant safety system comprising an outer casing (20) and a filter structure (30) for purifying and/or cooling gas released inside the outer casing (20), wherein the filter structure (30) is integrated in the outer casing (20). The invention further relates to an airbag module and a vehicle occupant safety system comprising said gas generator as well as to a manufacturing method.

Gas generator

A gas generator includes, a cylindrical housing provided with an ignition device and a diffuser, and an inner cylindrical member defining a gap with an inner circumferential wall surface of the cylindrical housing and leading to a gas discharge port. The inner cylindrical member is formed of a plurality of cylindrical members having gas inlet-outlet holes and connected in an axial direction. An opening of each of the cylindrical members has concave-convex portions for fitting the cylindrical members together. Both ends of the connected cylindrical members have a first protrusion on a side of the ignition device serving as a first abutment portion, and a second protrusion on the side of the diffuser portion serving as a second abutment portion. The first and second abutment portions abut the inner circumferential wall surface of the cylindrical housing and have a hole or a cutout to allow a gas to pass.
