DOOR-MOUNTED AIRBAG ASSEMBLY
A door assembly for a vehicle includes a door, an inflator mounted to the door, and a passive restraint. The passive restraint has a first airbag chamber and a second airbag chamber. The first airbag chamber is in communication with the inflator and is inflatable from an uninflated position to an inflated position. The second airbag chamber is in communication with the inflator and is inflatable from an uninflated position to an inflated position. The first airbag chamber in the inflated position extends transverse to the second airbag chamber in the inflated position.
Smartphone-based vehicle control methods
Method for controlling a vehicle including a smartphone-engaging coupling element. Data about operational status of the vehicle is transferred from one or more vehicle-resident systems to a smartphone when the smartphone is engaged with the coupling element. Commands are received by the vehicle from the smartphone when the smartphone is engaged with the coupling element, which commands being based in part on data previously transferred from the vehicle-resident system(s) to the smartphone when the smartphone is engaged with the coupling element. A vehicular system, e.g., seat positioning system, mirror positioning system, passenger compartment temperature control system, route guidance or navigation system, changes its operation in accordance with the commands received by the vehicle from the smartphone when the smartphone is engaged with the coupling element.
CONTROL DEVICE OF AN ELECTROMAGNETIC ACTUATOR FOR A RESTRAINT MEANS
A control device of an electromagnetic actuator for a restraint device, including an evaluation and control unit which generates a control signal which predefines a control sequence having control time periods, in which the actuator is activated, and pause time periods, in which the actuator is deactivated. A protective circuit including a counter is provided, the counter monitoring the control sequence and increments its counter content during the at least one control time period and decrements its counter content during the at least one pause time period, the protective circuit effectuating a deactivation of the actuator when the counter content reaches or exceeds a predefined first threshold value, and allows a reactivation of the actuator when the counter content reaches or falls below a predefined second threshold value after reaching or exceeding the first threshold value, the first counter content being greater than the second counter content.
PASSENGER AIRBAG
An airbag includes an inflation side and a vehicle occupant contact side opposite the inflation side, and a divider. The divider has a first portion attached to the inflation side and to the vehicle occupant contact side and a second portion attached to the inflation side and to the vehicle occupant contact side, such that the first and second portions tend to converge from the inflation side toward the occupant contact side.
Vehicle airbag assembly
An assembly includes a seat assembly defining a seat-forward direction. The assembly includes a middle console adjacent the seat assembly. The assembly includes a first airbag inflatable from an uninflated position to an inflated position. The first airbag is supported by the seat assembly in the uninflated position and the inflated position. The assembly includes a second airbag inflatable from an uninflated position to an inflated position. The second airbag in the uninflated position and the inflated position is forward of the seat assembly in the seat-forward direction. The assembly includes an inflator supported by the middle console, the inflator operatively connected to the first airbag and the second airbag to provide inflation medium.
Side airbag device
A side airbag device includes an airbag which includes a first base fabric and a second base fabric constituting an inflatable envelope, and in the event of a lateral collision of a vehicle, the airbag is deployed between an occupant and a door. The airbag further includes a partition fabric between the first base fabric and the second base fabric. The partition fabric partitions the inflatable envelope into a first inflatable compartment corresponding to a shoulder of the occupant, and a second inflatable compartment. The partition fabric is provided with a valve mechanism which opens to connect the first inflatable compartment and the second inflatable compartment when the first inflatable compartment is fully inflated.
Multi-chamber airbag with unidirectional vent
An airbag can include a first cushion portion that defines a first inflatable chamber and a second cushion portion that is connected to the first cushion portion and defines a second inflatable chamber. The first inflatable chamber can receive inflation gas from an inflator to expand the first cushion portion and the second cushion portion can receive inflation gas from the first inflatable chamber to expand the second cushion portion. A unidirectional valve permits inflation gas to flow from the first inflatable chamber to the second inflatable chamber and restricts backflow of inflation gas from the second inflatable chamber to the first inflatable chamber.
Valve for a cold gas generator and airbag system
A valve for a cold gas generator for an airbag in a vehicle includes: a valve chamber; a control chamber; a control piston; an overflow channel; a retaining element; and a shutoff element. The valve chamber includes an inlet from the cold gas generator and an outlet to the airbag. The control piston separates the control chamber and the valve chamber. The control piston is movable between an open position and a closed position, the control piston releasing the outlet in the open position and closing it in the closed position. The control piston has (i) a first active piston surface on the side of the valve chamber, and (ii) a second active piston surface on the side of the control chamber. The first piston surface is smaller than the second piston surface. The overflow channel fluidically connects the valve chamber and the control chamber to one another.
GAS GENERATOR AND ASSEMBLING METHOD THEREFOR
The present invention provides a gas generator in which no positioning device for a cylindrical filter is needed, and a method of assembling the gas generator.
The inside of a combustion chamber is filled with a predetermined amount of a molded article of a gas generating agent in a state in which an outside positioning jig is disposed between a cylindrical filter and a circumferential wall portion of a diffuser shell, and an inside positioning jig is disposed between the cylindrical filter and an inner tube. Upon completion of the filling, the two positioning jigs are removed, and the molded article of the gas generating agent is pressed in by an annular underplate. The cylindrical filter is positioned by this pressing-in.
