Tortuous path filter for airbag inflator
An airbag assembly may include an airbag and an inflator that provides inflation gas to inflate the airbag. A filter module may be positioned such that inflation gas exiting the inflator must first pass through the filter module. The filter module may be formed of a sheet of metal that is wrapped into a generally spiraling tubular shape. The filter module may have an inner layer, an intermediate layer, and an outer layer. The intermediate layer generally encircles the inner layer, and the outer layer generally encircles the inner layer and the intermediate layer in a spiraling fashion. The inner layer, the intermediate layer, and the outer layer each may have a pattern of holes and dimples that are separate from and/or displaced from each other. The dimples may protrude toward an adjacent layer to maintain spacing to enable relatively unrestricted gas flow from the holes of the inner layer through unaligned holes of the intermediate layer and the outer layer. The resulting tortuous gas flow path may help to slow, cool, and/or purify the gas before it exits the inflator.
Small flying vehicle equipped with airbag device
A small flying vehicle flown by radio control or autonomously by an auto pilot is equipped with an airbag device. The small flying vehicle has a main body part including a controller and a battery, a frame, a propeller, a motor, and a transmitting and receiving antenna. The airbag device has a gas supplier, a sensor, a controller, and an airbag. The airbag device is attached to the main body part, and the gas supplier is provided with a gas cylinder that releases a compressed gas when a closure member sealing the gas cylinder is broken, a breaker, including an electric igniter, that breaks the closure member, and introduction device that introduces the gas discharged from the gas cylinder and providing the pressurized gas into the airbag to inflate the airbag.
Gas Generator with Throttle Member
Gas generator including means to provide a pressurized gas, a gas exit portion and a throttle member located in said gas exit portion, having one or more openings for the passage of said gas and being deformable by a gas flowing through said throttle when the pressure of said gas is above a predetermined pressure, to prevent or reduce gas flow.

Solenoid valve for inflation system
A valve assembly is provided and includes a valve housing, an actuator housing coupled to the valve housing and configured when actuated to open a normally-closed valve element in the valve housing whereby pressurized fluid is permitted to flow through the valve housing and a solenoid valve. The solenoid valve includes an armature-valve element balanced to remain in a closed position and an electromagnet. The electromagnet generates magnetic flux that moves the armature-valve element into an open position such that at least a portion of the pressurized fluid flows into the actuator housing to actuate the actuator housing.
ROOF-MOUNTED OCCUPANT SAFETY SYSTEM FOR 360 DEGREE PROTECTION
An airbag for helping to protect an occupant of a vehicle having a roof and a cabin with a seat for the occupant includes an upper portion for being mounted to a vehicle roof, a lower portion having a ring-shaped configuration configured to encircle the occupant and a seatback of the vehicle seat when deployed, and at least one pillar connecting the lower portion to the upper portion. The lower portion encircles the seatback configures the lower portion to utilize the seatback as a reaction surface for supporting the lower portion against movement in response to an impacting occupant. An airbag module includes a housing that supports the airbag and an inflator. A vehicle safety system includes a sensor and a controller. The sensor senses the occurrence of an event for which deployment of the airbag is desired and produces a signal indicative thereof. The controller is connected to the sensor and, in response to receiving the signal, actuates the inflator to inflate and deploy the airbag.
