System and method of wiper electric drive control using four quadrant operation

A windshield wiper system includes a three-phase motor, the three-phase inverter, a brake circuit, and a controller. The controller transmits commutation signals to the three-phase inverter to drive the motor according to an inboard-to-outboard speed profile and to drive the motor according to an outboard-to-inboard speed profile. The controller activates the brake circuit based on the inboard-to outboard speed profile, or the outboard-to-inboard speed profile, and a direct current bus voltage.

The present technology relates to an information processing device, an information processing method, a recording medium, and an in-vehicle system capable of suitably recognizing an object using a captured image. An information processing device according to the present technology includes: a first detection unit that detects an adhering substance on a lens of a camera provided in a vehicle from a captured image captured by the camera using a first discriminator using a neural network; a second detection unit that detects the adhering substance from the captured image using a second discriminator using an optical flow; and a region identification unit that identifies a region of the adhering substance in the captured image on the basis of a first detection result by the first detection unit and a second detection result by the second detection unit. The present technology can be applied to, for example, a vehicle that performs automated driving.

Methods and apparatus for capturing and using images in a system including wipers

A wiper is controlled to sweep a surface area, e.g., a portion of a windshield, in front of a camera, e.g., a camera mounted inside a vehicle. An image captured from the camera after the wiper completes, e.g., immediately completes, the sweep of the surface area in front of the camera is used in generating a depth map. In some embodiments a first wiper is controlled to clear a surface area in front of a first camera while a second wiper is controlled to clear a surface area in front of second camera at the same time, and the first and second cameras are synchronized to initiate image capture at the same time, capturing images through recently cleared area, and the captured images are used to generate a depth map. A vehicle control operation, e.g., a direction, braking or speed control operation is performed based on the depth map.

Vehicle rain sensing using modulated infrared transmission

A rain sensor in a vehicle includes a transmitter to implement a pseudorandom modulation of a timing of emission of infrared transmissions toward a windshield of the vehicle. The rain sensor also includes a receiver to be active for only a specified period of time following each emission of the infrared transmissions and to receive a reflection based on the infrared transmission encountering any substance on the windshield.

AUTOMATIC HEATED WIPER SYSTEM

A wiper system for vehicles is provided. The system includes a heated wiper blade assembly, a heated cowl assembly and a controller. The controller receives input from one or more sensors or systems and causes a power source to provide, reduce or stop power to heating elements in the blade and/or cowl depending upon sensed conditions. At least some components in the assembly comprise thermally conductive polymers. The system provides surprisingly advantageous results in that it is effective for melting and clearing ice and snow with a lower than expected pull on a power source such as a battery.

BRUSHLESS WIPER MOTOR

Since a shape of a stator 44 is made mirror symmetric with respect to a rotor 45 as a 4-pole/6-slot type, rotational deflection of the rotor 45 can be suppressed. As the minimum number of poles and the minimum number of slots, which can suppress the rotational deflection of the rotor 45, a frequency of magnetic noises approaches a frequency of mechanical noises. Thus, it is possible to integrate the whole noises generated by the DR-side wiper motor 21 into a low frequency range thereof, and to make the acoustic sensitivity (dB) of a vehicle interior smaller. Since the stator 44 is fixed inside a housing 40 and mounting legs fixed to a vehicle body fixed portion are provided in the housing 40, the stator 40, which is a source of the magnetic noises, can be fixed to a vehicle via only the housing 40. Therefore, a brushless wiper motor with quietness improved further can be designed.
