Atmospheric property estimation system and method in dynamic environments using LIDAR

Systems and methods are provided for estimating atmospheric properties using a LIDAR sensor. A control system includes a LIDAR sensor configured to detect a distance to an object, and an intensity of light reflected by the object. A controller's a target selection module determines whether the object is a target for use in estimating the atmospheric properties. A data collection module collects values of the distance and the intensity as detected by the LIDAR sensor. The atmospheric properties are determined based on the values of the distance and the intensity. In response to the determined atmospheric properties, the actuator is operated to effect an action.

Wiper control method and wiper control device

In a wiper device for vehicles, overrun at inversion positions is suppressed while a wind load and a high load are dealt with. A wiper device includes: a wiper blade; a wiper arm to which the wiper blade is attached; and a motor for driving the wiper arm. A load generated in the motor when the wiper blade moves on a windshield is estimated and calculated based on a motor supply current amount and the like. When an outward load generated in the wiper motor exceeds a predetermined threshold value, a high load correction process is performed based on the outward load. When the outward load is less than or equal to the threshold value, a wind load correction process is performed based on a wind load calculated from a difference between the outward load and the return load.

Methods and apparatuses for actuating a vehicle component

There is provided a method for actuating a component of a vehicle. The method may include applying an initial force to the component to actuate the component, and generating a movement indicator based on whether the component moves in response to the initial force. Moreover, the method may include receiving a freezing indicator associated with a likelihood of the component being immobilized due to freezing. If the movement indicator is negative and the freezing indicator is affirmative, the method also includes applying an adjusted force to the component to mobilize the component.

Systems and methods for clearing snow from an electric vehicle

Systems and methods associated with an electric vehicle are provided. The electric vehicle includes a sensor system, a communications system and a snow clearing system. The systems and methods detect, based on data from the sensor system, snow that may accumulate on a window of the electric vehicle. When snow is detected, a notification is provided, via the communications system, to a remote user device. The notification requests user acceptance of use of charge of a battery of the electric vehicle to operate the snow clearing system of the electric vehicle. The systems and methods receive, by the communications system, a response to the notification from the user device, and when the response indicates acceptance of the use of charge of the battery, the snow clearing system is activated. The snow clearing system is powered by the battery.
