A windshield wiper system (WWS) is provided and includes a wiper blade assembly drivable along a first sweep angle, an internal wiper trigger disposed to move with the wiper blade assembly, a measurement system configured to monitor a position of the internal wiper trigger from which a corresponding position of the wiper blade assembly relative to the first sweep angle is measurable and to output a sweep angle feedback signal corresponding to monitoring results and a controller. The controller is receptive of the sweep angle feedback signal.

The system includes an apparatus providing a wiper fail-safe mode that identifies a failure of a wiper system based on at least one of state information of a wiper switch, the state information being received from the wiper switch, the location information of the wiper, the location information being received from the wiper control module, or the failure information of the rain sensor and outputs a notification of the failure of the wiper system.

An object detection system may include an object detecting device. The object detecting device may generate an object signal based on detecting an object. The object detection system may include a controller for operating a motor. The motor may be connected to a wiper element. The controller may generate a position signal based on a position of the motor. The object detection system may include an object detection module in communication with the object detecting device. The object detection module may receive the object signal and/or the position signal. The object detection system may be configured to selectively control the motor in response to detecting the object.

A method for cooling a sensor of a vehicle, the method including receiving temperature data corresponding to the sensor from a temperature monitor; and in response to determining that a current temperature of the sensor being greater than a first threshold temperature, initiating a cleaning cycle and directing cleaning fluid to the sensor.

A motorized ice removal windshield wiper device for removing ice includes a blade having a base nested within a housing. The blade abuts a surface of a windshield. An arm is coupled to the housing by an articulation point. The arm has an interior defining a space for a variety of elements to be positioned within. In addition, a lever is positioned within the interior of the arm. The lever moves the housing from a lowered positioned to an upper position, and vise versa. A motor is positioned on an end of the lever. The motor moves the lever, thus moving the housing. A motor control is in electric communication with the motor. The motor control is an actuator to the motor.

In a vehicle wiper apparatus, rotation of an output shaft of a wiper motor is converted to reciprocal rotation of a pivot shaft, and a wiper member, attached to the pivot shaft, reciprocally rotates between closed and open positions. A nozzle, provided in the wiper member, sprays a cleaning fluid towards a front side in an advancing direction of the wiper member on at least one of forward and return paths of the reciprocal rotation. A washer pump supplies the cleaning fluid to the nozzle. The washer pump is controlled based on a detected round-trip time, and is operated during rotation of the wiper member on at least one of the forward and return paths.

A mirror cleaning system, an improved mirror for a vehicle having the system installed thereto, and a method of cleaning the improved mirror using the system. The system includes a housing attachable to a vehicle side mirror, a heating element operably connected to a power source, a wiper, and a spray nozzle fluidly connected to a cleaning fluid source. The system is designed to de-ice and de-frost the improved mirror, spray cleaning fluid thereon, and wipe debris and fluids to improve driver visibility.
