A wiper device including: a power supplying circuit including plural switching elements, the power supplying circuit supplying, to a wiper motor, voltage that has been converted in accordance with switching control of the plural switching elements; a temperature detecting section detecting a temperature relating to a temperature of at least one of the switching elements among the plural switching elements; a current detecting section detecting current flowing to any of the switching elements among the plural switching elements; and a control section that, in a case in which the current detected by the current detecting section exceeds a limit current at the temperature detected by the temperature detecting section, carries out switching control of the switching elements such that the voltage supplied to the wiper motor decreases.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR CALIBRATING A WINDSHIELD WIPER SYSTEM

A method of calibrating a windshield wiper system that includes moving a wiper arm, of the windshield wiper system, within at least a portion of a full range of motion defined by at least one physical boundary, determining a position of the wiper arm when it contacts the at least one physical boundary, defining, based on the determined position of the wiper arm, an operating range of motion for the wiper arm that is shorter than the full range of motion, and setting the wiper arm to operate within the defined operating range of motion.

Systems and methods for detecting obstructions in a camera field of view

A system mounted on a vehicle for detecting an obstruction on a surface of a window of the vehicle, a primary camera is mounted inside the vehicle behind the window. The primary camera is configured to acquire images of the environment through the window. A secondary camera is focused on an external surface of the window, and operates to image the obstruction. A portion of the window, i.e. window region is subtended respectively by the field of view of the primary camera and the field of view of the secondary camera. A processor processes respective sequences of image data from both the primary camera and the secondary camera.

A droplet sensor has an optical cover with a curved surface that forms a part of a spheroid, a light source positioned at a first focal point of an ellipse, the first focal point facing the curved surface, and a photodetector positioned at a second focal point of the ellipse. The ellipse has an eccentricity determined such that the curved surface has an effective detection area that satisfies conditions for total internal reflection at an interface with a gas and that does not satisfy the conditions for total internal reflection at an interface with a liquid.

METHOD FOR SUPPORTING A CAMERA-BASED ENVIRONMENT RECOGNITION BY A MEANS OF TRANSPORT USING ROAD WETNESS INFORMATION FROM A FIRST ULTRASONIC SENSOR
20210124957 · 2021-04-29 ·

A method and an apparatus for supporting a camera-based environment recognition by a means of transport using road wetness information from a first ultrasonic sensor. The method includes: recording a first signal representing an environment of the means of transport by the first ultrasonic sensor of the means of transport; recording a second signal representing the environment of the means of transport by a camera of the means of transport; obtaining road wetness information on the basis of the first signal; selecting a predefined set of parameters from a plurality of predefined sets of parameters as a function of the road wetness information; and performing an environment recognition on the basis of the second signal in conjunction with the predefined set of parameters.
