AUTOMOBILE RAIN AND TEMPERATURE SENSOR MODULE
A rain and temperature sensing module including a housing having a cover plate formed of a transparent material, a printed circuit board disposed within the housing and having a light emitter, a light receiver, and a temperature sensing element disposed thereon, a transparent compound disposed within the housing and covering the light emitter, the light receiver, and the temperature sensing element, the transparent compound filling a space between the printed circuit board and the cover plate, wherein the transparent compound has a refractive index that is substantially equal to a refractive index of the cover plate, and wherein the transparent compound provides a thermally conductive medium between the cover plate and the temperature sensing element.
Predictive windshield wiper system
A windshield-wiper system includes a precipitation-detector, a windshield-wiper actuator, an object-detector, and a controller. The precipitation-detector detects precipitation proximate to a host-vehicle. The windshield-wiper actuator clears the precipitation from a windshield of the host-vehicle. The object-detector detects a distance of an object to the host-vehicle. The controller is in communication with the precipitation-detector, the windshield-wiper actuator, and the object-detector. The controller determines when the precipitation is present based on the precipitation-detector, determines the distance from the object to the host-vehicle based on the object-detector, and adjusts a speed of the windshield-wiper actuator when the precipitation is detected and the object is less than a distance-threshold away from the host-vehicle.
Liquid droplet path prediction
A system includes a processor and a memory storing instructions executable by the processor to predict a path of a liquid droplet on a surface, and then, actuate one or more vehicle components based on the path.
Precipitation detection
An amount and type of precipitation, and a speed of a vehicle is determined. A component in the vehicle is actuated based on the amount and type of precipitation, and the speed of the vehicle.
SYNCHRONIZATION METHOD FOR READING A STATUS OF AN ELECTRICAL CONTACT OF A MOTOR VEHICLE
A method for synchronizing acquisition of an analog signal value with a read signal for a state of an electrical contact of a motor vehicle. The method includes: controlling, at each start time of the first task, the power supply module so that the power supply module generates a read signal voltage pulse at the interface module input; at the same start time, triggering a counter for a predetermined duration shorter than the duration of the read signal voltage pulse; on the expiration of the counter duration, measuring the value of an analog signal generated by the interface module based on the state signal and of the read signal; and controlling, at the next start time of the second task, the power supply module so that the power supply module generates a zero voltage signal at the interface module input until the next start time of the first task.
Mirror Cleaning System
A mirror cleaning system, an improved mirror for a vehicle having the system installed thereto, and a method of cleaning the improved mirror using the system. The system includes a housing attachable to a vehicle side mirror, a heating element operably connected to a power source, a wiper, and a spray nozzle fluidly connected to a cleaning fluid source. The system is designed to de-ice and de-frost the improved mirror, spray cleaning fluid thereon, and wipe debris and fluids to improve driver visibility.

Variable sweep angle motor drive
A windshield wiper system for an aircraft is provided and includes a motor, an output shaft, a wrap spring and crank rocker mechanism (WSCRM) to which the motor and the output shaft are coupled and a controller. By way of the WSCRM, first directional rotation input to the WSCRM from the motor via a two-stage gear reduction is converted such that the output shaft drives wiper blade oscillation through a first sweep angle and second directional rotation input to the WSCRM from the motor is converted such that the output shaft drives wiper blade oscillation through a second sweep angle. The controller is configured to control the motor such that the first directional rotation is continuously or non-continuously input during first or second flight conditions, respectively, and the second directional rotation is continuously input during third flight conditions.
