SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR THE APPLICATION AND SEALING OF END CLOSURES ON CONTAINERS
The invention is directed to a system and method for hermetically sealing a closure to a container comprising a die assembly and a mandrel assembly. The mandrel assembly comprises an outer mandrel, an inner mandrel, and an ejector disposed within an inner circumference of the inner mandrel. At least the outer mandrel is configured to translate a first distance in a first time period, the inner mandrel and the ejector are configured to translate a second distance in a second time period, the inner mandrel is configured to retract a third distance in a third time period, and the ejector is configured to retract the third distance in a fourth time period.
ISOLATOR SYSTEM AND METHOD
A barrier system having a restricted-access environment, such as an isolator, a feeding apparatus for feeding closure elements into the isolator, a sealing station for sealing containers using the closure elements, and a handling device for transferring the closure elements. The sealing station and the handling device are arranged within the restricted-access environment, and the handling device is configured to transfer a fed closure element from the feeding apparatus to an inspection position within the restricted-access environment. The barrier system may also have an inspection device configured to inspect the closure element at the inspection position and determine whether the closure element has a defect. The handling device is configured to transfer the closure element from the inspection position to the sealing station when the closure element has no defect. Also disclosed is a method for processing closure elements in a restricted-access environment.
SEALING APPARATUS, BARRIER SYSTEM AND METHOD
A sealing apparatus for sealing a container, such as a pharmaceutical or cosmetic container, with a closure cap, where the sealing apparatus comprises a holding unit and a crimping unit. The holding unit is configured to hold the container at a crimping position, and the crimping unit is configured to crimp the closure cap onto the container at the crimping position. The sealing apparatus further comprises an optical inspection unit which is configured to inspect one or more properties of the container and/or the closure cap at the crimping position, and the inspection unit comprises a camera system. There is also disclosed a barrier system, such as an isolator system, and a method for sealing a container, like a pharmaceutical or cosmetic container, with a closure cap.
Systems for the high-speed application of paper-based end closures on composite
A system for assembling a container and closure comprising an expanding collet which has a plurality of pivoting collet segments, each configured to simultaneously pivot radially outward about a pivot point. The collet comprises a lip that is engagable with the rim of the open end of the container and an angled tip positioned radially inward from the lip and shaped to press a countersink portion of the closure against an interior wall of the container as the collet segments pivot radially outward. As the container and the chuck are brought together, the rim engages with the lips of the collet segments and causes the angled tips of the collet segments to pivot outward toward the interior wall of the container, thereby pushing the countersink portion of the closure against the interior wall of the container.
Apparatus for applying a lid to a support containing a product
An apparatus for applying a lid (2) to a support (3) containing a product. The apparatus (1) comprises a supporting element (10), having a contact portion (13), and a closing element (11), having a fixing portion (17), which are movable between a home position and a working position, in which the closing element (11) is partly inserted into the seat (12) having one or more lateral surfaces (16) defining the contact portion (13). When the two elements (10), (11) are in the working position, the fixing portion (17) is in the seat (12) and the two portions (17), (13) are coupled for clamping a part of the lid (2) and a part of at least one lateral wall (5). The fixing portion (17) is configured to fix the part of the lid (2) and the part of the lateral wall (5) which are clamped.
Systems and methods for producing a radioactive drug product using a dispensing unit
Production systems for producing a radioactive drug product include a hot cell having a radiation isolating shielding and a dispensing unit positioned within the hot cell. The dispensing unit includes a manipulator arm for manipulating a closure component of a vial. The system further includes a pneumatic line extending from the manipulator arm and through the radiation isolating shielding to a location outside of the hot cell and a pressure sensor connected to the pneumatic line and positioned outside of the radiation isolating shielding. The pressure sensor is operable to detect air pressure within the pneumatic line.
METHOD OF SEALING A COMPOSTABLE CONTAINER BY PIERCING THE LIDDING
A fully compostable beverage capsule may be produced by improving the seal strength between the capsule and its lid. In this invention, a number of protruding spikes are added to the upper and/or lower edges of the capsule. The lidding is then attached to the capsule via an energetic welding process, such as ultrasonic welding. The protruding spikes are deformed during this welding, increasing the surface area contact between the capsule and its lidding. Acting similarly to rivets, these spikes will improve the strength of the seal that forms between the lidding and the capsule.

Closures with a tamper evidence feature that is reshaped to connect it to the container neck are disclosed. Methods and systems for carrying out the methods, and to mold stacks for making the closures are also disclosed. The tamper evidence feature can be a band, a portion of a cylindrical skirt or a panel formed in the cylindrical skirt. The application of heat may deform the band inwardly to create a lip for engaging a flange on the container neck, or it may weld the tamper evidence feature to the flange.
