METHOD OF HANDLING A PLASTIC CONTAINER HAVING A MOVEABLE BASE
Method for processing hot-filled plastic containers are provided. In some embodiments, the method may include hot-filling a plastic container, sealing the container, and conveying the sealed container, each with an inner annular wall and a push-up portion in a first position. In some embodiments, the method may further include creating a vacuum pressure in the hot-filled and sealed container and repositioning the push-up portion from the first position to a second position under a mechanical force.
PREFORM AND CONTAINER ADAPTED FOR ACCOMMODATING AN INSERT PIECE, WITH METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR THEIR PRODUCTION
The invention provides a mould core and injection moulding apparatus for the production of a preform using a mould core which in the zone for defining the neck part of the preform comprises a combination of a raised portion and a shallow groove with a depth of 0.01 to 1 mm provided in the raised portion, for defining an internal attachment means in the neck of the preform. The invention also provides a preform and a container made from the preform, with internal attachment means in the neck. The internal attachment means is carried out rotation symmetrically with respect to the longitudinal axis of the preform. The combinations with an insert piece, preferably a pouring spout, flexible hose or dosing cap, have also been described. Furthermore, the invention provides an injection moulding method for the preform production and a stretch blow moulding method for the container production.
LIGHTWEIGHT PLASTIC CONTAINER AND PREFORM
A plastic container is provided that includes a hollow body portion including a lower supporting base portion; a sidewall portion extending upwardly from the base portion; and a neck portion extending upwardly from the sidewall portion. The neck portion includes a support flange having an upper and lower surface, at least one thread, and a dispensing opening at the top of the neck portion. In embodiments, a closure may be provided to form an assembly. In embodiments, the container may be comprised of PET, the weight of the neck portion from the lower surface of the support flange to a top of the dispensing opening may be 3.0 grams or less, and/or the vertical distance from the top of the dispensing opening to the lower surface of the support flange may be 0.580 inches or less. A preform and method for making a container are also disclosed.
Small carbonated beverage packaging with enhanced shelf life properties
This disclosure provides new containers, preforms, methods, and designs for small and light-weight carbonated beverage packaging that provide surprisingly improved carbonation retention and greater shelf life, while still achieving light weight. This disclosure is particularly drawn to small PET containers for carbonated beverages, for example less than or about 400 mL, and methods and designs for their fabrication that attain unexpectedly good carbonation retention and shelf life.
THERMOPLASTIC MATERIAL CONTAINER
A container (1) made of thermoplastic material, defining an axis (X) and having a petaloid type bottom (2), the bottom (2) comprising: —a central area (3); —a plurality of first convex surfaces (4) towards the outside of the container, which extend from the central area (3); —a plurality of feet (5), arranged alternately with the first convex surfaces (4), and projecting outwards with respect to the first convex surfaces (4); —an annular rib (6), which is coaxial to the axis (X); wherein the first convex surfaces (4) belong to the same spherical surface having the center (C) arranged on the axis (X).
Lightweight container base
A container defining a longitudinal axis and a transverse direction that is transverse with respect to the longitudinal axis. The container includes a finish and a sidewall portion extending from the finish. A plurality of ribs are defined by the sidewall. A base portion extends from the sidewall portion and encloses the sidewall portion to form a volume therein for retaining a commodity. The base portion has a contact surface for supporting the container. A plurality of straps extend radially along the base portion away from the longitudinal axis in the transverse direction, each one of the straps defines a strap surface that is closer to the finish than the contact surface. The plurality of ribs and the base portion are configured to place the container in a state of hydraulic charge-up when top load is applied to the container after the container is filled.
CONTAINER WITH A PETALOID BASE
The invention relates to a container made of plastic material comprising a petaloid bottom having an axis of symmetry and comprising a central dome that projects toward the interior of the container; a series of feet projecting toward the exterior of the container that radiate from the central dome and each of which has a crest path that extends from an external edge of the dome to a peak radially remote from the dome; and a series of valleys each formed as a hollow between successive feet. Each crest path has an internal section extending from the external edge of the dome to a junction at a distance R2 from the central axis. Each crest path also has an external section extending from the junction tangentially in line with the internal section to the peak. The distances R1 and R2 are in a ratio where 45%≤R1/R2≤60%.
OFFSET WAVE GROOVE BOTTLE
A bottle includes a finish defining a bottle opening, a bell carrying the finish, a base, a central axis extending from the finish to the base, a sidewall extending between the bell and the base, and at least two grooves that circumferentially extend around the sidewall and spaced apart relative to the central axis, the grooves being circumferentially offset from one another.
BOTTLE
According to the present invention, there is provided a bottle formed of a synthetic resin material in a cylindrical shape with a bottom, the bottle includes a bottom portion which includes a bottom wall portion and a heel portion, in which the bottom wall portion includes an inner peripheral wall portion and a depressed wall portion, a plurality of concave portions are formed on the inner peripheral wall portion, the plurality of concave portions are located on the inner peripheral wall portion at least in a portion including a lower end edge of the inner peripheral wall portion, a plurality of convex portions are formed at a connecting portion between the inner peripheral wall portion and the depressed wall portion, and the plurality of concave portions and the plurality of convex portions are provided alternately in the circumferential direction.
TAMPER EVIDENCE BRIDGES
An apparatus and a method are provided for a container cap comprising a plurality of tamper evidence bridges configured to provide evidence that the container cap has been removed from a container by other than a manufacturer of the container. The tamper evidence bridges comprise a small tab of material that extends from a bottom-most edge of the container cap to a neck ring of the container. The tamper evidence bridges are configured to break, or snap, when the container cap is rotated relative to the neck ring. Broken tamper evidence bridges provide readily visible evidence to an end-user of the container that the container cap has been removed by other than the manufacturer of the container. The high visibility of the tamper evidence bridges serves to discourage vendors from attempting to refill and resale of the used containers.
