Visibility for fishing floats
09622464 · 2017-04-18 ·

The invention relates to a line of floats which allow for greater visibility during both day and night fishing. The greater visibility is created by a combination of one of more marker devices, including light sticks, flags, viz sticks, reflective surface, and/or use of chemiluminescent and phosphorescent materials. These objects and materials are used on a variety of floats, especially large floats such as jug floats and a new type of float termed a noodle float. These large floats are especially useful for catching large catfish and can be used in any body of water where fish are found, such as lakes, rivers, ponds, and the sea.

Fly-fishing float or strike indicator and attachment methods

A fly fishing float and/or strike indicator is attached by an interference fit to a leader, by sliding the float up the leader to a thicker-diameter portion of the leader for a tight fit, and preferably a leader-compressing fit, between the leader and an axial bore in the float. A bore surface, that is non-compressible and/or less compressible than the leader, may be supplied as an insert around which a buoyant main body of the float is formed. The insert may also have features that prevent separation of the main body from the insert and that help transmit force on the main body to the bore surface for quick and efficient securement of the float to the leader by the interference fit.

SIGNALING FISHING FLOAT

There is provided a fishing float comprising a buoyant, elongated body having first and second ends, a means for attaching a fishing line to the second end of the elongated body, and a lamp module attached to the first end of the elongated body. The lamp module is comprised of an elongated hollow watertight casing having first and second ends, with the ends of the lamp module being translucent and different colors such that a solar powered lamp fitted into the hollow casing of the module body can slide from the first to the second end whenever the module is tilted from a horizontal position to a vertical position by a fish pulling on the attached fishing line.

Attachment For Fishing Bobber

A fishing attachment for use at night includes an LED bulb that is held and protected within a waterproof structure, namely, a transparent tube and a shrink-wrapped cover which seals at its opposite ends to the tube and also to a battery housing to which the LED bulb is operatively connected. When a battery is held within the battery housing, the LED bulb lights up and is therefore visible through the tube. A waterproof cap seals the top end of the tube. In use, the attachment secures to a fishing bobber that is attached to a fishing line, so that when a fish strikes a bottom end of the fishing line and pulls the bobber downwardly, the illuminated LED bulb also moves downwardly. This enables visual detection of a fish strike at in dimly lit conditions, including nighttime.

VISIBLE FISH STRIKE INDICATOR WITH ACCELEROMETER
20250081953 · 2025-03-13 ·

A visible fish strike indicator may include a buoyant main housing with a horizontal center axis and center of gravity beneath the horizontal center axis allowing the indicator to float upright on water. A light-transmissible housing can be detachably supported by the main housing, with an indicator illumination assembly that includes an accelerometer. The accelerometer senses the indicator's position and accelerative forces. A microprocessor interfaces with the accelerometer to analyze position data and generate command signals. These signals control a current-limiting resistor system, which regulates electrical currents to an RGB LED system. This light-transmissible housing emits different colors to signal indicator operation or a fish strike.

Angling apparatus (20) includes an immersible sensing device (22, 50, 80, 90, 100), which is configured for attachment to a distal end of a fishing line (26) and contains one or more sensors (32, 34, 70, 73) and a wireless communication interface (62) coupled to transmit signals indicative of an output of the one or more sensors. In one embodiment, an antenna (38) has a first end connected to receive signals from the wireless communication interface, and which is configured to be attached collinearly to the fishing line so that while the sensing device is immersed below a surface of a body of water, a second end of the linear antenna, opposite the first end, protrudes above the surface in order to transmit the signals.
