Methylotrophs for aquaculture and animal feed
Disclosed are methods of producing carotenoid compounds in a methylotrophic bacterial host cell. Such a host cell may be an unmodified Methylobacterium, spontaneous mutant, or transformed cell, any of which exhibit favorable properties, such as overproduction of carotenoid compounds, increased carbon flux, improved growth, or the production of additional nutrients, such as protein, vitamins, antioxidants, or fatty acids. Also disclosed are feed compositions for use in aquaculture, or as animal feed, or as human nutritional supplements containing processed or unprocessed biomass from such cells, as are methods of preparation of the feed compositions.
POWDEROUS COMPOSITION COMPRISING CAROTENOID AND/OR DERIVATIVE THEREOF, D-GLYCOSE OLIGOMERS AND MODIFIED POLYSACCHARIDE AS WELL AS FOOD, FEED OR PERSONAL CARE FORMULATION COMPRISING THE COMPOSITION
The invention relates a powderous composition, which can be produced easily and which can be used in many fields of application. The claims are directed to a powderous composition comprising (i) up to 70 weight-% (wt-%), based on the total weight of the powderous composition, of at least one carotenoid and/or one carotenoid derivative, and (ii) 5-30 wt-%, based on the total weight of the powderous composition, of at least one D-glycose oligomer (preferably a maltodextrin) (G01) having a DE of <18, and (iii) 5-30 wt-%, based on the total weight of the powderous composition, of at least one D-glycose oligomer (preferably a maltodextrin) (G02) having a DE of >18, and (iv) 5-70 wt-%, based on the total weight of the powderous composition, of at least one modified polysaccharide, as well as to a food, feed or personal care formulation comprising at least one powderous composition.
Chew Stick for Dogs With Enhanced Chew Time and Flavor
A chew stick for dogs made from strips of beef bladders or esophagus formed into sticks and infused with a solution of water, syrup and gelatin, and humectant, and other ingredients, and colored for appearance, and then heated to dehydrate the chew to about 8% to 14% moisture content to achieve the finished product. The stick may also be coated with a mixture of emulsified meat, such as beef, starch, flavoring extract, oil, and water, to give it an attractive flavoring and toughness as a finished product.

PET TREAT
A composition and process for making pet food treats is described herein. Auxiliary ingredients are combined to form a meat mixture. The meat mixture is formed into portions. The portions of meat mixture are positioned on a chew stick that comprises rawhide. The pet treat gives the appearance of a grilled shish kabob, where the meat portions are meant for initial taste, while the chew stick will provide the dog with a longer-lasting chewing portion.
Composition and method for orally administering one or more active agents to a pet
A composition and method for administering an active agent to a pet, such as a dog, a cat or a horse. The composition may comprise a yogurt-based chewable delivery matrix and a plurality of water-soluble film pieces dispersed throughout the chewable delivery matrix. The composition may also comprise a delivery matrix having at least 15% by weight of crude protein and a plurality of water-soluble film pieces dispersed throughout the delivery matrix. The plurality of water-soluble film pieces encompass an active agent therein, wherein the active agent is rapidly released from the composition upon contact with saliva from the pet. At least a portion of the released active agents may be oromucosally absorbed by the pet.
