Low-energy roller-belt accumulator
A conveyor system and method for cascaded accumulation on a series of in-line roller belts. An accumulation system comprises a series of roller belts that can be actuated in contiguous zones to accelerate conveyed articles forward at twice the belt speed. When articles start to accumulate on the accumulation conveyor, the belt rollers are deactuated downstream to upstream zone by zone. Then the belts are stopped as they fill with accumulated articles. The process is repeated in cascade for the upstream roller belts as articles continue to accumulate.
Apparatus for Buffering the Flow of Articles
Devices and methods for buffering articles may include use of an infeed conveyor, an outfeed conveyor, and at least two accumulation conveyors defining a path extending between the infeed conveyor and the outfeed conveyor. Each accumulation conveyor includes an entrance portion adjacent the infeed conveyor for receiving articles from the infeed conveyor and an exit portion adjacent the outfeed conveyor for delivering articles to the outfeed conveyor.

An apparatus for controlling the flow of articles and a related transfer device are provided for transferring flow between a first conveyor drivable in a first direction and a second conveyor drivable in a second opposite direction. The first and second conveyors may have at least one curved portion, and a transfer device is movable along the first and second conveyors. The transfer device has a pivotable frame and a movable guide to lengthen a transfer path when in the curved portion.
A TRAY FEEDING SYSTEM AND A METHOD OF OPERATING SUCH A TRAY FEEDING SYSTEM
A tray feeding system having a buffer conveyor for trays including a belt with spaced apart free running rollers having a rotation axis perpendicular to the conveying direction. These rollers extend upward from the belt such that the trays partly rest on the rollers. A tray conveyor receiving end is adjacent to an outputting end of the buffer conveyor where items are placed into the trays by a tray filler. A roller interactor is positioned below and adjacent to the surface of the buffer conveyor belt at an outputting end to engage with the rollers at the outputting end area when the buffer conveyor belts move forward rotating the rollers positioned within the outputting end area accelerating the trays on the buffer conveyor within the outputting end area of the buffer conveyor towards the receiving end of the tray conveyor.
Racetrack collator, carriage and related methods
A racetrack collator includes a collator frame, first and second collator drive assemblies and first and second collator carriages. The collator frame defines a racetrack travel path, and the first and second drive assemblies are each mounted thereto. Each drive assembly includes a respective endless drive element extending around the racetrack travel path. Each collator carriage is releasably connected to a respective endless drive element and includes a flexible substrate to which a plurality of dividers are connected.
Method and apparatus for stacking lumber
An assembly and method thereof creates a stack of objects. The assembly has a diverted to move objects having a desired size from a first conveyor to a second conveyor. The diverted utilizes diversion plates. The second conveyor transfers the objects to an accumulator. The objects that are accumulate are squared and then moved to a raised position. A lift assembly then lifts the accumulated objects that were square and translates the objects to a queuing assembly. The process repeats to construct a stack of objects with multiple layers of objects. The created stack of objects may then be transferred to a subsequent destination for further use or processing.

An apparatus includes a frame defining a machine direction. The apparatus includes first and second transport members operatively engaged with the frame. The apparatus includes first carriage and second carriage drive mechanisms each having a carriage drive belt, a drive shaft, and a sprocket drive belt operatively engaged with the drive shaft. The carriage drive belts are operatively engaged with the carriage drive mechanisms and operatively connected with the respective transport member such that the carriage drive belt moves the transport member in the machine direction about an endless loop. The sprocket drive belts engage the drive mechanism in a position of the drive mechanism not connected with the carriage drive belt.
