A sheet storage device has a rotation restriction portion configured to restrict a rotation of an end cursor from a first posture to a second posture. The rotation restriction portion has: a restriction piece situated on the end cursor and configured to be brought into contact with a guide rail so as to restrict the rotation of the end cursor from the first posture to the second posture; and an engagement recess formed at a given position of the guide rail, the restriction piece being fitted in the engagement recess. The end cursor is allowed to rotate from the first posture to the second posture when the restriction piece is fitted in the engagement recess at the given position of the guide rail.

An image recording apparatus including a first tray having a first holding portion for holding sheets, a second tray disposed above the first tray and including a second holding portion for holding sheets, a sheet feeder that selectively feeds a sheet from one of the first tray and the second tray in a sheet feed direction, a recording unit that records an image on the sheet fed by the sheet feeder, and a discharge roller that discharges the sheet on which the image is recorded by the recording unit. The second holding portion of the second tray moves above the first holding portion of the first tray. The second tray further includes a discharged sheet receiving portion for receiving the sheet discharged by the discharge roller. The second tray including the discharged sheet receiving portion pivots relative to the first tray.

An image forming apparatus forms an image designated by a job on a sheet fed from one of paper feed sources. Detection unit for detecting paper types of sheets respectively fed from the paper feed sources is provided on a conveyance path used in common for the fed sheets, and the detected paper types are held in one-to-one correspondence with the paper feed sources. The apparatus also hold a job-designated paper size and a job-designated paper type or a condition related to setting of a paper type. If the job includes the condition, a paper feed source that satisfies the condition is selected with reference to the paper sizes and the paper types set by the user and/or the paper types detected by the detection unit in one-to-one correspondence with the paper feed sources.
SHEET PROCESSING APPARATUS
A sheet processing apparatus in an embodiment includes a processing unit, a tray, alignment members, and a supporting member. The processing unit processes regular size sheets. The regular size sheets can be placed on a first surface of the tray. The alignment members are capable of coming into contact with end portions in a first direction, in which a line of intersection of the first surface and a horizontal plane extends, further in an upward direction than a center of gravity of a largest regular size sheet present in an initial position where the regular size sheet entering the tray is placed first. The supporting member supports a lower end portion of the largest regular size sheet and extends from inner sides to outer sides of end portions of the largest regular size sheet in the first direction.

A medium-discharging device includes: a medium-discharging section that discharges a medium; a medium-receiving tray that receives the medium discharged by the medium-discharging section; a light-emitting section that emits light to the medium-receiving tray; and a control section that controls the light-emitting section, in which the medium-receiving tray is configured to switch between a first state in which the medium-receiving tray is stored in an apparatus main body that includes the medium-discharging section and a second state in which the medium-receiving tray protrudes from the apparatus main body, and the control section controls the light-emitting section in accordance with a state or operation of the medium-receiving tray.

A sheet conveying device includes a sensor, a movement control portion, a detection processing portion, and a switching processing portion. The sensor detects a position in a width direction of a sheet conveyed by a pair of conveying members. The movement control portion controls the movement along the width direction of the pair of conveying members which is nipping the sheet, based on an amount of shift between the position detected by the sensor and a reference position. The detection processing portion detects a sheet size of the sheet. The switching processing portion switches between permitting and not permitting the movement of the pair of conveying members based on a sheet size associated with a sheet feed source and the sheet size detected by the detection processing portion.
IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS
An image forming apparatus includes a housing that has left and right side surfaces; a manual feed tray that protrudes from one side surface of the left and right side surfaces; a manual feeding device that feeds a sheet from the manual feed tray; a first sheet tray that is arranged inside the housing, and faces the manual feed tray such that at least a part of the first sheet tray overlaps one end portion of the manual feed tray in a gravity direction; a first feeding device that feeds a sheet from the first sheet tray; and a common conveyance roll pair that is arranged inside the housing, and first receives and conveys both the sheet fed from the first feeding device and the sheet fed from the manual feeding device.
Sheet feed apparatus and sheet housing apparatus
In accordance with one embodiment, a sheet feed apparatus comprises a sheet housing section, a guide, an optical sensor, markers and a determination section. The sheet housing section houses sheets. The guide is arranged at a position corresponding to the size of the sheet housed in the sheet housing section. The detection position of the optical sensor varies by interlocking with the guide. The markers, which have different image features corresponding to the sizes, are arranged at the detection position of the optical sensor pre-determined according to the size of the sheet. The determination section determines the size of the sheet housed in the sheet housing section based on a detection result of the optical sensor.
Sheet feeding apparatus and image forming apparatus
A sheet feeding apparatus includes an apparatus body, a storage cassette having a cassette body and a regulation member regulating a position of a sheet, and a size detection portion detecting a size of the sheet. The size detection portion has a plurality of size detection levers which are swung around pivotal shaft, a plurality of non-contact type detection elements which are radially arranged around an imaginary axis on the apparatus body and are turned ON/OFF by the plurality of size detection levers in a case where the storage cassette is mounted, and a positioning unit. The positioning unit positions the storage cassette such that the pivotal shaft and an imaginary axis are matched in a case where the storage cassette is mounted on the apparatus body.
