Mechanical brake interrupter device
A mechanical brake interrupter for a lift or other similar suspended platform allows for stopping an emergency controlled descent during a power outage when an obstruction is present below. The mechanical brake interrupter includes a manual brake handle, a control collar, a coupling member, and an activation lever. The manual brake handle is used to manipulate a brake line for performing an emergency controlled descent. The coupling member is slidably connected to the control collar, and the activation lever is used to releasably lock the control collar in an armed position and unlock the control collar in an activated position. Rotating the control collar correspondingly rotates the coupling member such that the manual brake handle selectively engages the coupling member when the control collar is in the armed position, and the manual brake handle does not selectively engage the coupling member when the control collar is in the activated position.
ELEVATOR APPARATUS
In an elevator apparatus, an abnormal acceleration detecting mechanism detects abnormal acceleration of an ascending/descending body due to breakage of a suspending body, and activates a safety device. The abnormal acceleration detecting mechanism includes: an inertia sheave that is rotatable around a sheave shaft independently from an interlocking sheave; a pawl that is connected to the interlocking sheave and the inertia sheave, and that is displaceable between a normal position, and an activating position that displaces a movable shoe to a gripping position; and an elastic body that holds the pawl in the normal position by applying an initial pressure, and that also rotates the inertia sheave together with the interlocking sheave.
Traveling cable sway prevention
An elevator system includes an elevator car movable along a hoistway, a traveling cable operably connected to the elevator car and movable along the hoistway with the elevator car, and a traveling cable support positioned in the hoistway and operably connected to the traveling cable to prevent sway of the traveling cable. A traveling cable and traveling cable support arrangement for an elevator system includes a traveling cable positioned in a hoistway and movable in the hoistway during elevator system operation, and a traveling cable support positioned in the hoistway and operably connected to the traveling cable to prevent sway of the traveling cable, the traveling cable support operably connected to the traveling cable via a plurality of guide frames.
Braking device for braking a hoisted object relative to a guide member
A braking device is operable to aid in braking a hoisted object relative to a guide member. The braking device includes a mounting structure connected to the hoisted object, and first and second brake pads positioned on the mounting structure on opposing sides of a passageway through which the guide member extends. The first and second brake pads each include a contact surface that is operable to frictionally engage the guide member. The second brake pad engages the mounting structure in a manner that enables the second brake pad to move relative to the mounting structure between a non-braking position and a braking position. The braking device includes a brake initiator that is selectively operable to initiate movement of the second brake pad from the non-braking position toward the braking position by selectively actuating an actuatable portion of the brake initiator from a non-deployed position to a deployed position.

Actuation of a safety brake
An elevator car has a brake system with braking devices engaging braking webs integrated into guide rails to brake the car. The braking devices include a brake housing, a first brake body movable by contact with the braking web and relative movement between the braking web and the brake housing to clamp the brake web, and a pusher arranged on the brake housing with the braking web arranged between the first brake body and the pusher with a required passage clearance. The pusher can be advanced toward the first brake body and pressed against the braking web to forcibly bring the first brake body into contact with the braking web. A pressing lever pivotally mounted on the brake housing acts to press the pusher against the braking web.

ELEVATOR OVERSPEED GOVERNOR WITH AUTOMATIC RESET
A governor assembly is provided including a sheave rotatably mounted on a shaft and a ratchet disc mounted on the shaft. Rotation of the ratchet disc is restricted. An overspeed assembly includes a swing jaw mounted to the sheave. The swing jaw is movable between a normal position and a tripped position. The swing jaw is biased into the tripped position. When the swing jaw is in the tripped position, rotation of the sheave in a first direction is restricted. A tripping lever is pivotally mounted to the sheave and is configured to cooperate with the swing jaw. Rotation of the sheave in a second, opposite direction is configured to automatically move the swing jaw against its bias to the normal position.
