Elevator cord health monitoring
A method of fault detection of a belt or rope includes connecting a fault detection unit to at least a portion of a belt or rope including a plurality of wires arranged in a plurality of strands and/or cords. At least the portion of the belt or rope is subjected to an AC voltage of high frequency range and an electrical impedance of the portion of the belt or rope is measured via the fault detection unit. Using at least the measured electrical impedance of the portion of the belt or rope, a fault condition of the belt or rope is determined.
ELEVATOR SYSTEM
An elevator system includes a suspension apparatus that has a plurality of tension members in a common jacket. The tension members of the suspension apparatus are electrically interconnected in an electric circuit which includes a current source or a voltage source and a measuring device. The measuring device is connected between a first group of the tension members and a second group of the tension members.

A belt for an elevator system includes a plurality of tension members arranged along a belt width and extending longitudinally along a length of the belt, each tension member including a plurality of fibers. A metallized coating layer is applied to at least a portion of an outer surface of at least one tension member of the plurality of tension members. The metallized coating has a coating electrical conductivity greater than a tension member electrical conductivity of the at least one tension member. A jacket material at least partially encapsulates the plurality of tension members and the metallized coating layer.
Method and device for detecting a deterioration state in a suspension member arrangement for an elevator based on AC voltage measurements with suspension members being electrically short-circuited at their distal ends
A method for detecting a deterioration state in an elevator suspension member including electrically conductive cords uses a multiplexing unit (MU) to apply first and second alternating voltages to proximal ends of first and second groups of the cords respectively and connect the proximal end of a third group of the cords to a voltage measurement arrangement connected to a reference potential. Distal ends of the groups are connected together. A first neutral point voltage between the third proximal end and the reference potential is determined. The MU is switched to apply the first alternating voltage to the second proximal end, apply the second alternating voltage to the third proximal end and determine a second neutral point voltage between the first proximal end and the reference potential. The deterioration state of the suspension member arrangement is determined based on the first and second neutral point voltages.
CONDITION MONITORING SYSTEM FOR ELEVATOR HOISTING MEMBERS
Embodiments of the present disclosure are directed to a system for monitoring conditions of elevator hoisting members. The system includes a processing device configured to receive an actual resistance data from the one or more pairs of tensile load bearing conductive members, calculate an adjusted resistance data by subtracting the actual resistance data from a baseline resistance data and dividing by the baseline resistance data, input the adjusted resistance data into a process configured to model the adjusted resistance data into a breaking strength value for the elevator hoisting member, receive the breaking strength value, and determine whether the breaking strength value is below a predetermined threshold value for a rated breaking load of the elevator hoisting member, wherein when the breaking strength value is below the predetermined threshold value, output an alert to the elevator controller to instruct the elevator controller to inhibit movement of the elevator hoisting member.
Method and device for detecting damage in a support for an elevator system
A method and a correspondingly configured device detect damage or defects in a support, including at least one tension member, for an elevator system. A pulse generator generates at least one electrical digital input signal that represents at least one first binary number and is fed to the tension member. After the digital input signal has passed through the tension member, it is detected as a digital output signal that likewise represents at least one second binary number. The second binary number is then compared, in particular compared digit by digit or bit by bit, with a setpoint binary number and/or directly with the first binary number. Damage in the tension member is determined on the basis of an issued comparison result. If the second binary number deviates from the setpoint binary number and/or from the first binary number, a fault message is generated.
