Method and apparatus for cartridge-based carbonation of beverages

Systems, methods and cartridges for carbonating or otherwise dissolving gas in a precursor liquid, such as water, to form a beverage. A gas source can be provided in a cartridge which is used to generate gas that is dissolved into the precursor liquid. A beverage medium, such as a powdered drink mix or liquid syrup, may be provided in the same, or a separate cartridge as the gas source and mixed with the precursor liquid to form a beverage. The use of one or more cartridges for the gas source and/or beverage medium may make for an easy to use and mess-free system for making sparkling beverages, e.g., in the consumer's home.

METHODS OF CONTROLLING THE LEVEL OF DISSOLVED OXYGEN (DO) IN A SOLUTION COMPRISING A RECOMBINANT PROTEIN IN A STORAGE CONTAINER

This invention provides a method of controlling the level of dissolved oxygen in a solution comprising a recombinant protein in a storage container.

System and method for bubble-free gas-enrichment of a flowing liquid within a conduit

The present invention provides a system for enriching a flowing liquid with a dissolved gas inside a conduit. The system comprises two or more capillaries, each capillary delivering a stream of a gas-enriched liquid to the flowing liquid. The first ends of the capillaries are positioned to form an intersecting angle with respect to the effluent streams such that these streams of gas-enriched liquid collide with each other upon exit from the first ends of the capillaries, effecting localized convective mixing within the larger liquid conduit before these gas-enriched streams are able to come into close contact with the boundary surfaces of the conduit, whereby the gas-enriched liquid mixes with the flowing liquid to form a gas-enriched flowing liquid. In the preferred embodiment, no observable bubbles are formed in the gas-enriched flowing liquid. Methods of making and using such system are also provided.

The invention relates to the food industry. A method of saturating a beverage with CO2 comprises supplying the liquid and the gas under pressure, increasing the mass transfer surface, intensively mixing the components in a chamber, and subsequently feeding them into a storage tank. The mass transfer surface is increased abruptly prior to mixing by converting the liquid to a moist saturated vapor state, and the vapor-gas mixture is condensed before feeding into the storage tank. Also described is a device for saturating a beverage with CO2, which device is in the form of a water-air ejector.

A system and method of injecting a gas enriched and/or emulsified first liquid into a second liquid is disclosed. The injection can cause generation of a high density of bubbles having a mean diameter of a selected size. The mean diameter of the bubbles can be selected and varied based on the characteristics of the injection system.

Antibubble generator and preparation method

The present invention relates to an antibubble generator and a preparation method. The antibubble preparation method includes: generating a jet flow or droplets in a discrete phase from a first fluid through a gas phase; and under the action of an external force, the jet flow or droplets passing through a liquid membrane and moving towards a second fluid in a continuous phase, to form antibubbles. The present invention can generate a large number of antibubbles in a simple and convenient way, and can meet the needs of large-scale industrial applications.

MULTISTAGE AERATION SYSTEM

The multistage aeration system includes a water jet tank system having a closed water tank that holds a pool of water and seals in air above the pool of water. A nozzle in the top portion includes air bleeder passages to allow an ambient air to flow through the nozzle and into the closed water tank. A water flow meter and a water pump circulate water from the closed water tank to outside the tank through the water flow meter and then through the nozzle. The nozzle entrains air through the bleeder passages into the water as the water passes through the nozzle, and forms a jet spray into the pool of water. An air flow meter valve and a closed water tank air outlet pipe extend from the closed water tank and connect the water jet tank system to a diffused aeration tank system with a series tank system.
