PERMEATION MEMBRANE AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING A PERMEATION MEMBRANE

Disclosed is a permeation membrane and a method for producing a permeation membrane. The permeation membrane can be used in particular in the field of membrane-based material separations. The permeation membrane is composed of an inorganic semi-permeable substance in which an additional substance is incorporated in some locations such that existing intermediate spaces in the semi-permeable substance are at least partly filled by the additional substance and thus only the intermediate spaces are blocked for a permeating species.

Synthesis of a Novel Ordered Mesoporous Carbon Using COK-19 Template for Water and Wastewater Treatment

Ordered mesoporous carbon was prepared using COK-19 silica template. Ordered mesoporous silica COK-19 was synthesized with cubic Fm3m structure. Sucrose as the carbon precursor was impregnated into the mesopores of silica and converted to carbon through carbonization process using sulfuric acid as a catalyst. Ordered mesoporous carbon was obtained after the removal of silica framework using hydrofluoric acid. Several characterization techniques such as nitrogen adsorption-desorption isotherms, transmission electron microscope (TEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), Raman spectroscopy, and elemental analysis were employed to characterize the OMC. The pore size analysis and TEM images confirmed that OMC has replicated the mesostructure of the COK-19. Results obtained from adsorption kinetics and isotherms suggest that the Pseudo-Second-Order Model and Langmuir Isotherm well described the experimental data. The adsorption study showed that the synthesized OMC has an adsorption capacity of 40.5 mg/g for resorcinol removal.

Filtering device, in particular for the air to be supplied to a fuel cell

A filtering device features a carrier medium and activated carbon stratum as adsorbent and having a sealing closing over or sealing longitudinal and width sides of the activated carbon stratum all-around a periphery of the activated carbon stratum.

Superior carbon adsorbents

The present invention relates to a superior carbon adsorbent with or without a core. In one embodiment the carbon adsorbent of the present invention employs carbon adsorbent powder and an organic binding agent which are combined together with an appropriate solvent in an agglomeration step. In another embodiment the invention contemplates a core-in-shell adsorbent comprising an outer shell composed of a carbon and a non-adsorbing inert inner core. Low temperature processing of these agglomerates substantially preserves the binding agent within the final composition and allows one to prepare adsorbent products of high sphericity. The adsorbents of the invention possess superior characteristics such as higher mass transfer rate and CO.sub.2 working capacity for use in a H.sub.2PSA process.
